System Monitor is an application for the menu bar of your Mac, designed to inform you unobtrusively about the activity of your computer. You can retrieve up-to-date technical data any time, like process load, CPU temperature, main memory consumption, storage space, disk activity, communication on network interfaces, etc. By positioning the app in the menu bar, as least screen real estate as possible will be wasted. The program monitors your system continuously and is readily available when you need it.
You can easily configure the App to automatically stay in the menu bar of your user account. No “login item” is required, so there are no annoying windows or Dock icons when you log in.
If desired, System Monitor can also simulate the flickering activity lights of hard drives or network sockets in the menu bar. This is possible either in color or —perfectly integrated into the design of the operating system— in inconspicuous black-and-white. PC switchers who miss this feature on Macintosh computers can easily retrofit this function with System Monitor.
- Added necessary changes for the 4th generation System Management Controller used in the latest Macintosh models with M1 processors.
- Added a workaround for a possible issue when monitoring the top 5 processor or memory consuming processes which could cause System Monitor to wait unexpectedly long for an operating system response.
- The temporarily unavailable option to connect with Intel(R) Power Gadget software was reinstated for Macs with Intel processors.
- Fixed a possible layout problem for specific size settings of the control window which could cause the sidebar not to react on clicks or to show an unnecessary scroll-bar.

It looks like crap, but does the job
Seriously, would it kill them to design a good looking trey icons and a decent menu? It's cluttered and ugly. But it's very accurate and actually works, unlike some of the other solutions I tried, so I guess I'll give it 4 stars.
Pretty good program, pretty bad support.
I got the trial version, and liked it. So I bought the paid version and installed it. Unfortunately, BOTH versions continued to run, even after I uninstalled it. I reached out to support, but they were of no help at all (and frankly, they were quite rude). After weeks of them sending instructions that were totally invalide, I finally I just uniinstalled both versions and reinstalled the paid version, and now it’s working (no thanks to the support team).
I love this app!
I love using this app in combination with an app that hides other menu bar icons until needed. This way I can monitor network activity, RAM usage, and CPU with history graphs, all without having to constantly open Activity Monitor when I'm working on development projects. A must have!
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
