Tagr is an application that helps you organize your music collection. With Tagr you can easily edit information such as a song's artist, title, or album cover. Tagr also allows you to control the way your files are named, numbered, and capitalized. There is no more need for having other tools dictate that for you! ***My follow-up: Thank you for the response. On first attempt, this suggestion indeed seems to work (and *not* doing this with the same file produced the old, non-fuctional result), so I'm happy to change this to a 5-star review. Great app. I'm still not quite sure a) why this behavior changed, as it didn't seem to be an issue until 6-9 months or so ago, and b) quite what "rewriting all tags" is, and why it's not simply the default behavior? Can it be made to be? Not a huge deal, but unless I'm missing something, this'd be nice, and since my use scenario is not-at-all atypical, it might also save others the same problems.***Developer's reply: "Have you tried rewriting all tags? Press Option Command S to do so. Let me know if this helps. "*** My original review: 2/3 of the time, it doesn't write tags that Apple Music/iTunes can recognize. (the tags *are* written somewhere, because when I re-open the file in Tagr, they appear correct, but iTunes can't read them)This bug/non-functionality arose out of nowhere in version 4 of Tagr, likely because of something Apple did, but it hasn't been fixed in Tagr 5, and even in the latest update, and so I cannot recommend this (once reliable) app, at all.Note: this exact same behavior evidences itself on both of my Macs, a 2019 Macbook Air and a 2019 iMac.

Have you tried rewriting all tags? Press Option + Command + S to do so. Let me know if this helps. ——The main reason for not rewriting tags all the time is performance. It’s simply faster. Also, rewriting tags will clean ALL tags first. If there were any tags that Tagr doesn’t support, they’d be lost.

A few years back, I realized iTunes was not embedding artwork correctly and that Finder was taking issue with that. My search for a tool lead me to developer Harald Schubert’s website (pre MAS!) and his App, Tagr and it didn’t take long for me to realize that it was going to be my new “Go-To” App for metadata editing. Harald Schubert and I struck up a dialogue and have been friendly ever sense. I’d send him bug reports and he’d listen to my questions and feedback. Tagr is fast and is very comprehensive. It also does some advanced operations that I’ve only found in Windows metadata Apps. I have recommended this App to more than a few other Mac users and will continue to do so. You will not be disappointed!Thanks for a great App, Harald!

Tagr is the best app I've found for organizing a music collection exactly the way I want. And every release brings new features and capabilities. (For example, version 4 added support for FLAC; version 5 now supports AIFF.) The interface is pleasurable to use and the various built-in tools have saved me a lot of tedium. Tagr is the best app I've found for organizing a music collection exactly the way I want. And every release brings new features and capabilities. Still solid after 10+ years

Been using Tagr across many versions probably for over 10 years, and it’s still the best. The handling of not just tags but file renaming is a significant plus over other solutions if like me, you are not fully iTunes/Apple Music-centric and tend to collect from multiple sources. Glad to see it still updated and current!
