TaleBindery is a private storybook workshop for the Mac. Parents, teachers and kids make a real illustrated book together: draw on the page, write the words, add stickers and characters, hear it read aloud, then print it. No account, nothing uploaded.
WHAT YOU GET FOR FREE
- Unlimited storybooks, up to 12 pages each. No timer and no watermark.
- A real drawing canvas on every page, saved as genuine PencilKit data.
- Original stickers, characters, backgrounds, speech bubbles and five page layouts.
- Editable title, subtitle and author, page reordering and full-text shelf search.
- On-device read-aloud of any page.
- Multi-page story PDF, a watermark-free read-along reader, and an open JSON backup.
Every free page stays editable and exportable forever.
ONE-TIME PACKS
Print Studio Pack
Trim, bleed and safe-margin templates (8.5x8.5, 8x10, 6x9, US Letter), cover-wrap with a spine-width calculator, gutter compensation, 300-dpi flattening, a preflight checklist and a print-ready PDF. It also lifts the 12-page cap app-wide.
Narration & Read-Along Pack
Record a page in your own or your child's voice, keep multiple takes, trim and retake, add original music beds, edit page-turn timing and follow word-by-word highlighting. Exports a read-along video and an audio-only audiobook.
Photo-to-Storybook & Sticker Pack
Use Vision subject lifting to cut a child, pet or toy out of your own photo into a reusable character. Apply cartoon, watercolor, comic or coloring-page styles, keep a cast that reappears across books, place a rendered copy on a page, and print a cut-line sticker sheet.
Scrapbook & Album Pack
Four drag-and-drop collage arrangements, batch auto-layout of imported photos, movable and rotatable pieces, paper, instant-photo and tape frames, captions, dates and journaling cards. Exports a landscape album spread.
Activity & Coloring Studio Pack
Seeded generators for mazes, word searches, dot-to-dots, tracing sheets and matching games, plus line-art conversion of a local photo. Queue six designs, generate answer keys, and export Letter or A4 class sets.
Keepsake Memory-Book Pack
A private per-child journal: dated milestones with photos, height, weight and shoe-size notes with neutral charts, handprint, quote and story pages, an alternating timeline, and one tap to compile a printable keepsake book. Multi-child.
Studio Illustrator Pack
An offline indexed pixel-art and craft-animation bay: four deterministic original scene sets, 16x16, 32x32 and 64x64 canvases, pencil, eraser, fill and eyedropper, onion-skin animation up to 24 timed frames, PNG and sprite-sheet export, printable craft grids, and page placement. Requires Apple Silicon and 16 GB of memory; not sold on other Macs.
Everything
All seven packs above in one purchase. The App Store shows your localized price before you confirm. It carries the same Apple Silicon and 16 GB requirement, because it includes Studio Illustrator.
TRY BEFORE YOU BUY
Every pack opens a populated, interactive free sample from the Packs screen. It is the real workspace with real controls and a small posted action budget, its export is watermarked, and its sample book and media live in a temporary container deleted when you close it. Samples never touch your library and never grant an entitlement. The Everything sample opens all seven workspaces, each keeping its own budget.
PRIVACY AND HONESTY
No account, no server, no ads, no analytics, no tracking. The app ships without network and camera entitlements, so books, drawings, photos, recordings, milestones and exports stay on your Mac. The microphone is requested only after you press Record in the narration booth. Every pack is a one-time purchase, never a subscription, and Restore Purchases sits on the Packs screen. Keepsake measurements and charts are a family record, not a medical tool, and no substitute for advice from a pediatrician.
Ratings & Reviews

A complete redesign: a calmer, cleaner layout, larger type, a new 3D hero on the My Storybooks screen, and clay-style pictures throughout. Navigation moves to a floating bar at the top of the window. All your data stays on this Mac.
