macOS takes good screenshots. What it doesn't do is let you say something about one. Tamofy is that part. Drop a picture in, point at what matters, and send it - usually before you'd have finished describing it in words. GETTING A PICTURE IN • Drop a file on a window, or on the menu bar icon. • ⌃⇧A - a new window from whatever is on the clipboard, from anywhere. Capture a region with macOS own shortcut, press ⌃⇧A, and you're drawing. • ⌃⇧T - a blank canvas, from anywhere. • Open…, Open With from the Finder, or ⌘V into a window that already open. MARKING IT Every tool is a single key. No modifiers, no chords. A - Arrows that bend in the middle, with a head that keeps its shape T - Text with an outline that stays readable on any picture S - Boxes, squares, ellipses and lines D - Freehand drawing H - Highlighter strokes and straight bands N - Numbered pins that fill the lowest number not in use M - A magnifier: a small circle on the detail, a larger one showing it P - Pixelation, for what shouldn't be shared C - Crop So is every colour. 1 to 8 are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, white and black, in the order they sit on the palette; 0 opens the colour picker for anything else. [ and ] step the thickness down and up. Hold Control to constrain - angles snap, boxes square up, a move locks to one axis. Hold Option to drag out a copy. Hold Command to grab a mark while a pen is in hand. SET UP THE WAY YOU WORK • The tools sit in a rail down the left edge, or in a bar that floats over the foot of the picture. Settings picks between them, and sizes the floating one. • ⌥⌘T takes the tools away entirely when the picture wants the whole window. Nothing is lost: every tool, colour and thickness still has its key, and the pointer carries the tool it is holding, drawn in the colour it will draw in. • Every one of those keys can be changed. Re-record any tool, colour or thickness key in Settings, and the three shortcuts that reach Tamofy from inside another app as well. GETTING IT OUT • Drag the picture straight out of the window into a message, a document or a folder. Nothing is written until the other side takes it. • ⇧⌘C puts a PNG on the clipboard. • ⌘E writes a PNG to your Pictures folder. Export As… asks where. • ⌘S saves a Tamofy document that reopens with every mark still selectable and movable. Send the PNG, keep the document. CLOSED IT BY MISTAKE ⇧⌘T brings back the last window you closed - picture, marks, position and zoom intact, and still knowing the file it came from. ⌃⇧R does the same with Tamofy in the background. It survives quitting and restarting, because what was closed is written to disk. ALSO WORTH KNOWING • PNG, JPEG and HEIC open. A saved document keeps the picture in the format it arrived in. • Undo everything, including a crop and a pixelation, until you deliberately flatten it. • One window per picture, no tabs - marking up means comparing what you just did against the next thing.

THE TOOLS HAVE A SECOND HOME They can now sit in a bar that floats over the foot of the picture, instead of the rail down the left edge. Settings -> Editor switches between Classic and Modern look and sizes for modern one. And they can go away entirely - ⌥⌘T hides whichever bar you chose, for when the picture wants the whole window - every tool still has its key, and the pointer shows which one is in hand. COLOURS ARE ON THE NUMBER ROW 1 to 8 for the palette, 0 for the picker. There is a Colours menu under Tools that shows which key is which, with the current one ticked. KEYS YOU CHOOSE Every tool, colour and thickness key can be re-recorded in Settings -> Editor.
