Power On and Volume Control Functions Do Not Work
Downloaded and installed this app on my iPad Pro to compare it to the Roku app with my 55” TCL Roku UHD Tv. The power button does turn the tv off, but fails to turn it on. However, I can turn the tv on by selecting the Channel screen, then tapping a channel. Or by using the physical remote. The volume down button lowers the volume all the way to zero (0) while the volume up button does nothing. Having to use the physical remote to turn the tv on and control the volume defeats the purpose of having the remote app. I’ll stick with my Roku remote app which allows me control all my Roku devices as well as both of my TCL TVs. It also has a finger swipe option for browsing. I highly recommend the Roku app over this app.
Volume problem and connection problem
The remote comes in handy really well seeing as I lost my remote somewhere in my room and can’t find it. Well every time I turn my tv on and try to connect it it doesn’t work unless I unplug the tv for up to 10 seconds and then plug it back in for the remote to sense us on the same network. Also the remote will let me mute the tv and turn the volume down but it won’t let me turn it up so no I have to be careful not to turn it down on accident because then i won’t be able to hear my tv.
Works but buggy.
This app works pretty good but at the time of me writing this, it’s pretty buggy. The power button don’t work and the volume down quickly takes it to zero and the volume up don’t work at all. So if you don’t have a physical remote handy, this app will be basically useless in its current state. I assume they’ll soon release an update to address these issues because nearly everyone is saying the same thing.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
