Choose from 8 different view and orientation combinations on iPads and 6 on iPhones to suit your preferences.
Good news for owners of the Tempest Weather System by WeatherFlow-Tempest, Inc. Now you can have a locally displayed console specifically designed to display your weather observations and hyper-local forecasts on a single screen in real-time. You can also get daily and hour-by-hour forecasts for up to 10 days.
Choose from different "Main"view displays that offer numerous ways to view your weather observations. Easily view all the relevant data necessary to keep tabs on conditions such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind gusts, daily rain, rain storm totals, rain rate, and sky conditions such as UV, LUX and solar radiation. It also displays sunrise and sunset. Or you can choose the alternate display with just the basics enlarged for easy viewing from a distance.
The "Storm" view displays all the above items except sky conditions. In its place, Teapot for Tempest displays a live weather radar map for your location. It updates automatically so no user intervention is necessary. Whenever you are expecting a storm, all you need to do is tap the 'Storm View" icon, and everything you need to see will be right there.
The "Forecast" view displays detailed hyper-local forecasts for up to 7 days as well as hour-by-hour forecasts for the same periods.
Installation and setup takes less than 5 minutes and your weather readings will be immediately streamed to your device in real time wherever you are. Your weather data stays private. Only devices you approve can look at your data.
Teapot for Tempest offers Nearcast compatibility as well as a unique rainfall calibration function that helps to improve your rainfall display accuracy. By using another weather station or simple rain gauge as a comparison, you can adjust your rainfall readings to an actual "known accurate" rain collector. This will greatly improve your rainfall reading accuracy. It uses a simple slider to adjust plus or minus percentages that is non-destructive. It only modifies the displayed reading, and leaved the underlying raw data in its original state.
Teapot also allows you to select light or dark modes overriding your system settings, or you can choose to follow your system settings.
Teapot for Tempest uses its own weather radar map using Apple Maps and radar data from RainViewer. You're not limited to our map however. We have provided a mechanism to allow any embeddable map you may prefer. Several weather providers offer embedded maps for personal use. To embed an alternative weather radar map, all you need is the URL from the provider. And, if you need any help, we're happy to assist you.

I love it except for a glitch I had. It kept telling me the wrong station is but it wasn’t. Did it again same result. However it does connect to my station and looks great. Was able to swap the dewpoint and humidity as that more important to me than the humidity reading, which still shows just smaller. It does not give the forecast, maybe because it thinks the wrong station id?It would be nice to be able to offset the temperature and humidity as the Tempest does not. My temperature is accurate but humidity runs high as seems the Tempest typically does from looking at others. Since this is just my display should be able to show it correctly by an offset when needed. However overall very happy with it!

Update: I used Teapot to repurpose an iPad Air 2 as the main display for my Tempest station. The prefs include a setting to keep the iPad awake when the app is running—and so I have a big, beautiful, informative display that is always available. I figure the iPad has several more years of life now! [ORIGINAL REVIEW] This app compared to the Tempest app is like stepping out from the grayscale of Kansas to the Technicolor of Oz. Incredibly impressive use of screen space to display almost all of Tempest’s data in one place, and well differentiated. You will continue to want both apps, as Teapot does not yet display historical data in the form of graphs. Setup was relatively easy, but make it easier on yourself by keeping the instructions for retrieving your sensor’s information handy. Well done!
Disaster

Just installed a Tempest and this app crashes within a fraction of a second of clicking on anything within the app. Deleted and reinstalled and it’s still doing the same thing. It simply doesn’t work (iPad Pro on iOS 17.2). If it’s fixed and I am able to use the app, I will revise my rating and review.UPDATE: The latest version has resolved my issue of immediate crashes, and it has a very nice display of graphics. However, clicking the Forecast button yields a blank page. I’ve tried to switch the settings for the number of days forecast and that doesn’t fix it. The app is definitely moving in the right direction.
Developer Response
Did you ever report this to tech support? This would be highly unusual and we have no record of anyone reporting a crash that wasn't resolved.
Excellent Tempest Console

I was looking for a Tempest Weather screen for my iPad, and came across this Teapot (great naming, btw!). I had a couple of glitches with the station ID not being recognized, so I left it a day, deleted all API keys, rest from scratch and it worked today. Overall - I think the display is cool. I favor a tech-heavy console with lots of data. I would like more documentation on what the multiple rows of data are for e.g. temp, humidity, but I hope the app author will read this and add more details to the app posting. Things I would like? Graphing and trending. Historical data replay. More details on the battery status and charge / discharge per day, to correlate good UV with positive charge. I’d also like to see what *every* stat would look like on the screen! But - GREAT JOB with this app so far, and well worth the subscription. Kudos!
- Numerous cosmetic improvements including automatic and accurate map sizing, consistent wording and much easier onboarding for new users.
- Numerous code enhancements improve performance and reliability.
- We also added a new activity log to help diagnose and better understand connections to your Tempest weather station.
