If you’re on the search for an app to help you reinforce your musical foundations, this is the app. It’s not instructional so much as it is access to exercises that will help you lock in the knowledge you’re getting from your lessons. I’ve merely explored it for about 5 minutes and feel like I’m stealing it for $4.99. Well worth the money. Get this app!

I use this app to study both guitar and ear training and it has been great so far. It gives me access to everything I need while being able to customize the exercises to a T for the most part. Thanks for the hard work guys!One idea that I do think would be good to implement however, would be to give a customizable option in the Fretboard Note Identification exercise for it to be centralized around just the natural notes of the guitar and no accidentals. This way you could test yourself on learning the natural notes on multiple strings instead of having no choice but to use one. You can currently customize both frets and strings selected, but the frets selected applies to ALL strings selected and of course, the natural notes to not fall in line on every string. This is a much easier and more effective way of memorizing the fretboard and I do believe that would make this app a top notch go to for guitar players. Thanks again!

I am a beginner music theory student. From my experience, this app can be used for beginners on to practice theory learned elsewhere. It does not include theory lessons but instead contains many different kinds of customizable testing and practice tools. Some of the tools are not configured for beginners, (or perhaps simply not configured is a better description), and can be overwhelming if you just start using them out of the box. You can simply change the parameters to fit your skill level. There are a number of different tools for practicing notation reading, keyboard and fretboard identification, ear training, and more. For me as a self study music theory student this is really an excellent tool, which I imagine will remain useful as I continue to get more and more advanced. My thanks to the developers for being so thoughtful, this is a really helpful app for me and I expect one of the best practice tools for music theory learners.

I love this app, and I use it on a daily basis to help me practice music theory. Although I am aware that there is a progress report option on here, it seems of the arbitrary to have to make one every day. I think that if the app offered a practice log option, it would make it a lot easier to see how much I've practiced over time. I feel like when new users purchase the app, a practice log should automatically start with the date and how long they've practiced, so that it helps to motivate the user to practice daily and also helps them track their progress on learning with the app. It would be far more organized and helpful for users to be able to have it as an in-app feature. Other than that, the app is absolutely wonderful and I definitely recommend buying it--after learning the lessons as a basis online and then applying the knowledge to the exercises.

I’m not new to Tenuto as I purchased the app shortly after its original release years ago in order to keep practicing the skills I gained during my undergrad music studies. As a professional musician and guitar teacher now, I thought I’d finally leave a review for this magnificent app that is simply invaluable to anyone who is striving to become a well-rounded musician.If you are a musician, fledgling artist, music student at any level, get this app! The training you can put yourself through by adding a few minutes of ear training or sightreading training to your practice routine will be invaluable - you’ll really be on top of your game in theoretical knowledge, when playing with others, etc. It’s the real deal!As I continue using it in my routine, I always find it useful and recommend it to all of my students. It’s an app truly worthy to stay on your phone, unlike many other throwaway apps.

I'd first like to express my gratitude for all the hard work and time spent in the creation of these tools and tests for the betterment of musicians everywhere. The variety of options have offered me the best possible training all with conveniency of portability. Fantastic set up. Virtually bug-free. It's a truly pragmatic and gratifying experience.I have no complaints for the already established content. However, I believe that I and many others would benefit from tests pertaining to rhythm. All we have are tests regarding pitch, harmony, dictation — all great — but I have seen musicians frustratingly struggle with fluency in reading rhythms (maybe we could tap on the screen), rhythmic independence (tapping two or more rhythms at once), and rhythmic dictation (especially) over 2/2, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, 6/8, 9/8, 12/8, etc. time (not excluding 5/4, 7/8, 10/8, and other more abstract/contemporary time signatures).Again, I praise all your hard work, as many do. But adding these practical and essential elements would be invaluably beneficial, indeed.If I may, I'd like to suggest a melodic dictation test — where we can train our ears to hear different notes of minor keys (or perhaps modes?) as well as major with the notes played in succession — and a chord progression dictation test (I cannot tell you how much I need this).I whole-heartedly thank you for such a great app!
