A few shortcomings, but it’s okay.

(1) It needs a preference for words per minute — any quit > relaunch goes back to 180. (2) It doesn’t do bracket codes, such as [[slnc 800]] for 800 milliseconds of silence. I hear Apple deprecated these codes but some other text apps interpret them correctly. (3) The list of voices could include a nationality. (4) Speaking always starts at the top, not where your I-beam is located. (4) Needs a preference for mono. Bitrate and all would be cool, but mono is the most important, as I shoot for small size. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s only $3.

Don’t waste your money. Absolute rubbish!!!

This is the worst app that I have ever seen or purchased.

It has no help section. No instructions anywhere. I was unable to load any text either through the “load text” button or the “open" button. In fact, I was not able to get it to speak anything because I could not find a way of getting any text into the app to read. This is basically seems to be a sham. It seems to use the apple text to speech reader evidently, but doesn’t seem to know how to do that. I tried to copy text and paste it into the app, but that didn’t work either. Don’t know how to make it work, and there are no instruction to do this that I am aware of anywhere.

I thought taht since it was just 2.99, how much was at risk. If you want to waste your money on an app that has no value, please feel free to reward this sham artist for his sad product. I am sure that other reviewers must be lucky or they are bogus reviews. I wish that someone at Apple would run a simple test to see if an app worked at least in basic terms before they listed it in the app store.

Stop asking me to rate your app please.

I would give this app a reasonably good rating, but it keeps asking me to rate the app, and probably will keep asking me to rate the app even after I have done so. It’s an annoying feature of this application.

I used to be able to export text as a sound file, but that doesn’t work anymore, and it crashes my entire system. Strangely, all the other apps similar to this do the same, crash while trying to export sound. I have a feeling this has more to do with Apple’s OS and the new way they handle audio. I’m on a iMac Pro, using macOS High Sierra.

One thing I love about this application is the ability to pause the playback. I wish there was a feature for replaying the last 15 seconds.
