TextEdit+ is an sleek and fast text editor for your iPad and iPhone. It's compatible with text editors that comes with macOS (TextEdit) & MS Windows (WordPad). It also supports any RTF, TXT, Markdown or LaTeX editor like Nisus Writer, MacDown or TeXStudio.

This Does What I Want

I am glad to find that this app does the same things I do on TextEdit on the iMAC. It works with iCloud in the standard way. I don’t use it for fancy editing, just basic documents. It is the best I have found for rtf and rtfd. Minor issues: it is easy to put in tabs but only at std spacing and there is location called “ in Files App” that is a mystery to me, but I don’t have to use it.

Update makes you pay to see you previously made documents!!!!

I used to love Text Edit. I’ve had it for several years now. I have used it as my main document making and saving app. I’m learning ASL and I have made and saved so many documents to this app, from my word lists, to practice sentences and more. Then, just recently it started saying I couldn’t add any new documents unless I paid for a premium subscription! So I had to stop making new documents, but I was still able to see and use the many, many documents I had made on here over the years. Now, since the new update, every time I open the app, it brings up a pop up every time I open the app, to do a free 3 day trial that will then end up making me buy a subscription after the 3 days!! As far as I could see there was no way to exit the pop up or see all of the many documents I’ve made unless I agree to this! Even tried turning Wifi off, pop up still came up and said I couldn’t use the app because I was offline! I almost never write reviews, but I wanted to warn others so they don’t lose all the documents they make unless they pay. I’m really upset about this because I just lost all the work I’ve put in making the documents because I’m not going to pay for the app. Would give it 0 stars if I could.

Text Edit + is unstable and inconsistent in its operation.

Text Edit+ has several strengths. It saves my work regularly. Although it crashed I was able to continue where i left off after re-starting the app. The menus are pretty easy to navigate and the blue tooth keyboard works well with the App.

I’m really surprised that this app is rated so highly given its basic deficiencies. The app is unstable in normal use. It has crashed several times in the course of preparing a new doc. Cutting and pasting operations have caused it to exit to my Home Screen. Choices of fonts, sizes and styles for documents seem revert back to the app defaults. Copying and pasting text from Text Edit+ can result in formatting errors in third party apps sometimes.
