*Why Voicepaper 2?
Hi, I had been updating the original Voice Paper and Lisgo until iOS6 era, and since iOS7 came out, I couldn't update it because of iOS7 bugs technical reasons. Since then, I couldn't update it and stopped updating it because of tech, voice engine contracts, and cost reasons.
Since then, I'd been paying the Voice engine fees and only doing user support, but a lot of people still keep downloading Voicepaper and Lisgo even though they are old iOS6 eran apps.
in 2017, I decided to develop a new text to speech app from a scratch using a different voice engine for Voicepaper and Lisgo users by combining Pocket, Evernote and Dropbox supports.
Finally, in Sep 2017, I could release Voicepaper 2 just before iOS11 release.
It supports 25 languages with male and female voices without additional purchases, and you can edit pronunciations too.
Speaking of voice engine, if I use enhanced voices, I personally like it better than the previous Voicepaper and Lisgo ones.
Because the previous Voicepaper and Lisgo had one-time purchase payment, please understand that you need to pay again to use Voicepaper 2 so that I can keep it developing in the future.
Ratings and Reviews
Nothing innovative about it, aside from its simplicity to use
As the title suggests, there are several applications out there that are very similar if almost not the same as this one, and a few of them are free much unlike this app which only allows you 10 minutes of free use before asking you to upgrade in order to keep using it at a total of $9.99. It's rather steep for a very common application, yet the only thing that sold me on it was its ability to outdo the rest by making it just as efficient, if not more than the others, and on top of it all, making it much more simpler and easier to use. With that being said, don't be expecting anything that you have not seen before or something of which you are not willing to fork out $10 for when you can get very similar applications for free. However, if you're like me and you cannot stand having to read something or are a multitasker and like to have it going in the background while you're doing something else, then it's worth it's money.
Does What It Says
After 6 years of my wife and I trying to have our first child, we were blessed with a baby boy in early 2014, which inspired me to write a children's book in honor of my anticipation. After finishing the first draft, I was anxious to hear my hard work read to further critique and edit, as needed. There are very few apps that I've downloaded and/or purchased have actually performed/provided the features and functionality that is described and detailed for which I sought them. This app does exactly what it says, very user-friendly, and I have yet to experience any bugs or flaws. AND, this was all with the "FREE" version, which convinced me to just now purchase the FULL version for $8.99. I have yet to use the "PAID" version, but I will write definitely write another review if there are any flaws I experience, however, based on the "FREE" version, I doubt I'll be disappointed!
For me this app was not usable. When ever I downloaded a text file that file text would be altered. The transfer would not recognize quote marks and would instead interpret them into something else. Instead of reading through quote marks it would say "I circumspect" or at least that's what it sounded like it was saying. This issue obviously made this app unusable for me.
The other issue I had with this app was that in an attempt to get you to purchase the full version, it limits you to such a degree that you have no idea if the purchase version is any good or not. The reading voice is okay and if it is slowed down very far, it is much more tolerable. But I can't tell whether there are many options on the paid version to improve the voice.
The free version limits the amount of time you can use it in the day. At the time of my download of the free version that limit was 15 minutes. In my mind it would make more sense if it was limited to 15 minutes but gave you full access to the options of the program so you can decide if it is worth the purchase price.
