“A sublime and spellbinding app... It epitomizes everything an eBook-app crossbreed should be. It uses the full capabilities of the iPad’s processing power and screen to deliver a visually stunning, entertaining and enthralling masterpiece... If you’re a budding animator with a spare $35, you won’t regret it.”

“The Animator’s Survival Kit app is a joy to use for anyone interested in animation, and suitable for any level of ability.”
“I can’t imagine an audience who won’t love this app. From school kids, just growing an interest in drawing to retirees, this book / app is perfect for anyone looking for a wonderful excursion into a new topic or attempting to expand their craft.”
“an ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE for any animators with an iPad. If you are an animator, and you don’t have an iPad, you may even consider buying one just for this app alone. It really is that good!”
“We love it. It is better than the book, better than the DVD series. It perfectly combines the best qualities of print and video... a huge step forward for learning animation.”
“The essential tool for both aspiring novice and seasoned pro. I love that an animator can step forward and backwards through the animation. The ‘slide to animate’ bar below the animated clips is very useful as it allows you to isolate and study a particular arc or path of action. Moving your finger left and right, slowly or quickly, advances or rewinds the action. Being able to study the animated examples without having to load up a DVD on another device is amazingly useful. Now it is obvious that this is the way to view and learn from the animated examples.”
—Rob Coleman, two-time Oscar nominee, Animation Director on the Star Wars prequels
“Good news for animators of all stripes – pro or student, digital and hand-drawn. The master himself demonstrates principles of character animation with interactive samples and exclusive extras (including new Williams shorts). Now you can have access to Williams’ wisdom all the time. It’s a must-have for both studios and classrooms – smart, stylish and a class act all the way!”
—John Canemaker, NYU animation professor and Academy Award winner
Adds support for 64 bit iPads which fixes a warning that some users would get when running the app.

Totally worth every penny
As a Designer who already knows how to animate but wants to push my skills, this app is priceless. I've been a working professional for a few years now and have still already learned so much in the first couple of chapters. Things that I maybe already did because I was told so but now know the "why" behind those actions as opposed to just mindlessly pressing buttons. I Wish I had picked it up sooner but my hard copy sits in my bookcase collecting dust. I blame that partially on the size of the thing. Not as easy to lug that thing in bed with you for a nighttime read as it is the iPad. Luckily the app is here and I have not been able to put it down.
My only complaint, and the reason it's received 4 stars from me is there seems to be no bookmarking system. While it's not your conventional ebook I still treat it that way and I'm sure other users do as well. It would be nice to be able to bookmark where I've left off or even note an important piece of information that I'd like to easily revisit.
Hopefully we can get that addition in the update, aside from that the app is great. Don't be put off by the price as I was initially. Any animator will not regret the purchase.
All Animators should have this
I love this app! It’s perfect if you're just starting out or have been in the industry for years and want to remember the basics. I own the book as well and for the extra video content alone, this app is worth the cost. I’ve never run into any sound issues - I bought this back when I had the iPad 2, now I have the iPad Pro and it still works like a charm.
Although there is no way to bookmark in the app it does have a very nicely laid out table of contents that will take you back to any chapter.
If the price tag has you scared there is a demo version you can try out - that’s how they reeled me in.
The Bible of Animation
This interactive masterpiece would be a bargain at twice the price. A rich, comprehensive and indispensable tool to learn animation, it gathers the collective experience and skills of a small army of professionals and drops it into your lap. If you are willing to put in the time and effort, this book will give you everything else, period. An amazing achievement.
