MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
I’ve been a believer my whole life, I’ve attended Christian schools my whole life, and I’ve heard the stories of Jesus countless times. I’ve also seen every Jesus movie and miniseries ever made, and there have been dozens. So why a new TV show about Jesus?
Because I have a passion for people to hear the “old, old story” again … for the very first time. When I see Jesus movies, it’s sometimes hard for me to feel moved or excited. I've heard the stories before, and many Jesus projects just take you from Bible story to Bible story, not spending as much time on the humanity and backstories of all these characters. And they sometimes feel stiff and formal.
So when we started to write a show that explores Jesus through the eyes of those around Him, we were repeatedly moved and excited. We explored the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and a few of Jesus’ miracle recipients, and in turn experienced Him in the way they did. We couldn’t help but identify with their recklessness, rough pasts, religious piety, and desperation for life change. And ultimately, their redemption.
One of our favorite responses from an early screening? "The story of Jesus that actually appealed to my teenagers!"
No matter where you’re at in your journey with Christ—whether you’re one of the many people in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a horrific past without Him, or you’re a Nicodemus who’s been a lifelong member of the God team—Jesus proved over and over that we have so much to learn and innumerable traits that need change.
We hope this show allows you to see Jesus as they did. The end of the trailer tells you how to watch this show right now.

The Chosen is the most binge-worthy show I have ever watched. This is like no other Jesus show. So well done - nothing cheesy here! Gripping story line, brilliant acting, gorgeous cinematography, and breath-taking musical score. But the real draw is that beyond the beautiful package, you get drawn in and taken for a ride that you don’t want to end. You get involved in the characters’ lives that encounter Jesus. Then you get to experience a Jesus that you have never before seen on a screen. Heart piercing. His love and compassion for ALL is palpable. His humanity, humility and even humor just make you fall in love with Him more. He is divine and powerful, yet so very relatable. The Chosen is different, evocative and you won’t want it to end. I invite friends to Binge Jesus with me and find new treasures with every viewing.
Bravo, The Chosen. Finally a filmmaker, Dallas Jenkins, got this story right! Thank you for the show and the amazing app that lets us see it for free, and then allows us to help the rest of the world see it by paying it forward, IF we so desire. I am Paying it Forward so more can see and to help fund more seasons.
Knowing Jesus vs know About Jesus
I am trying to remember on how i did find this app but i cannot; but i am soo glad that i found it. I have watched so many stories about Jesus , heard about the stories & read my Bible about Jesus. I grew up in church & i am a preacher’s daughter. To make the long story short i became a prodigal daughter....but God....found me. I have never encountered Him growing up in church.. I thought my life was ok because my dad is a preacher. But God has a greater plans for my life. Jesus changed my heart & turned everything for my good. My past does not define me but God gave me a new name. Daughter of the King of kings. Every time i thought about Jesus’ love for me i get so overwhelmed.
I see myself to some of the characters here when i watch this series “The Chosen”. I have always wondered before of what kind of a person or what kind of life they have before and after they meet Jesus. I cried to some of the episodes because it reminded when I met Jesus & got to know Him more as my Savior & Lord!!
Thank you for making this series! Taking for pointing people to Jesus Christ! Your reward is in heaven! To God be all the Glory!
Unique and interesting
I’ve watched a lot of Jesus movies, and I’m not the type to automatically like a movie/show because it’s Christians. I think shows should be judged by equal standards of story-telling, regardless of their message. But I have to say, this show keeps me interested in a way that other Jesus movies often don’t. It immerses you in the culture and customs of the time period, makes you think about what the lives of the characters were probably like by telling stories that are pieced together from the biblical details yet not explicitly told in the Bible, telling stories that are not simply re-hashes from other Bible movies. This show does not stray from its biblical source material, but it does tell stories you’re probably not used to seeing depicted on the screen. Also, the overall cinematic quality is better than many low-budget Bible movies, making the story come to life. Finally, I can watch Gospels with my motivation being actual interest, rather than feeling like I need to support another Christian cause.
