Patience has its rewards
Great game, guys. The detail is impressive, and the variety of puzzles is fun and challenging. It kept me entertained and busy for multiple hours of gameplay, and was well worth the price of admission, imho. This game will draw comparisons to the Room series, and for the most part, those comparisons are apt. Highly recommended...
I notice a lot of people dinging the game for the exposition by the characters (even though you are given the option to skip the chats if you want), puzzles that involve “trial and error” (even though this is how a lot of problems get solved in the real world), or the “tediousness” of looking for clues and hidden compartments... It’s called patience. You don’t get to blow through a problem or punch/blast your way out in this game, and I’m sure that’s vexing for some people. But that’s the beauty of it; you have to stop and think, and the reward is the “aha” moment afterwards. As for the complaints about storylines and poetry...are you really playing a puzzle game on your iPhone for plot? No, it’s for the puzzles, and there are some really good ones in this game.
Really looking forward to the next game in the series! Keep up the great work!
Absolutely fantastic and simply a joy to play. By far the best games available. Your only peer or rival are the developers that do the The Room series. The puzzles are very well done and the addition of characters and dialogue only add to the game and get you even more immersed. Anxiously waiting for the next in this series to be released. Great value for the small price. It took me about 12 hours and it was worth every cent. This one had the best ending sequence yet. I liked where it took you back into the game for a moment before it was all over. You should consider offering an extended versions for $6.99 along with the standard version for $4.99. My hunch is many would opt for the $6.99 extended version. I really didn’t want the game to end, it was such great fun. Hurry up with the next release, please.
Enjoyable until last chapter
Decent game for those who love puzzlers. Entertaining story, good voice acting, lovely artwork, nice music.
But by the last chapter the puzzles were becoming tedious. Trial-and-error puzzles get old really fast and there were too many of them. I was irritated to find there was more than one puzzle with yellow symbols on a gate/door. Perhaps there’s a more logical approach to solving it other than trial-and-error. While I did know what I had to do to solve it, I used the hint system to finish the second one. I was just too bored with it. Also, sometimes the inventory and hint icons or the “special tool” would block clues in the environment.
What knocked off two stars though was the painful ending. A five minute (or more) narrated poem...that’s the reward? And did it really have to rhyme?! Some of the rhymes were a real stretch, actually made me wince. I was really perplexed at this choice. Can’t remember if the first game did this. Keep plot explanations concise or give the gamer an option to skip it or read later. If you want to do something different, then do it well.
