The Social Weather Project turns everyday people into a living map of society. It's a citizen-science platform where your anonymous answers about education and earnings come together to reveal the social "weather" of communities across the globe.
Open the app and you're met with a 3D interactive globe. Anonymous survey responses appear as colourful towers rising from the map — each one built from real data on people's backgrounds, education, and earnings. Spin the globe, zoom into your city, and watch the patterns of opportunity and experience take shape around you.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
Add your data anonymously — answer a short survey about your education, your parents' education, and your earnings. Your identity is never shown.
Explore the globe — see anonymised data from around the world rendered as 3D towers and location markers.
Watch it grow — as more people take part, the map becomes a richer picture of society's "social weather."
Replay the data — see how the map changes and moves over time.
Join as a group — institutional memberships let small groups take part together.
ANONYMOUS BY DESIGN
Your privacy comes first. The information you share is aggregated and displayed only in anonymised form. Your name and email are never shown to other users or made public. Location is used solely to place your anonymous data point on the map.
MEMBERSHIP OPTIONS
Free — full access with occasional advertising.
Premium — an ad-free experience.
Institutional — for small groups who want to take part together.
WHY IT MATTERS
Social patterns are usually hidden in spreadsheets and reports. The Social Weather Project makes them visible, beautiful, and explorable — a shared, anonymous portrait of where we come from and where we're heading. Every response adds to the picture.
Download the app, add your data, and become part of the map.
Premium: £2.99/month. Institutional: £15.99/month. Auto-renewing monthly subscriptions. Payment is charged to your Apple Account and renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period.
