What’s New

Version 1.93

Thank you all for being a part of Obico!

We are introducing a range of new additions in this update. Be sure to update your OctoPrint / Klipper plugins!

Receive layer progress on active prints. You can toggle between layer progress & progress in mm by tapping on the text. This is effective on any file in Obico or new files uploaded directly to OctoPrint. Klipper users will need to configure their slicer accordingly to Klipper's documentation on receiving layer progress to access this feature.

Also introducing 'fine tuning' commands like feed rate, flow rate, & fan speed commands. You can access these next to all the other printer controls like extrude, move head, etc.

Thank you all again!

The best monitoring app

The app has some difficulty differentiating between spaghetti and necessary wires. Even sleeved, at some point your wires must be visible to connect, and the detective notices these wires (especially if your camera is in the front of the bed looking towards the back.)
This is my only complaint and I imagine over time the app will be able to better distinguish between the two.

Honestly this app works better and more consistently for monitoring prints than octopod anywhere, polymer, or kraken. Visuals are cleaner than those apps, plus you don’t need to pay anything. As long as you submit your videos that were being watched you continuously get more free hours. Now that my free trial month is over I am going to get the pro subscription because it is absolutely worth it.

Customer Service is second to none

I’ve had some webcam issues that may or may not be Obico’s fault, but I suggested via email that it may be due to their app, and their team was incredibly responsive, and they have been more helpful than I could have ever imagined a company being. The app just works amazingly well too, and even with this webcam issue that might be something else entirely, this is by far the best OctoPrint app out there. I’ve tried other top apps, and they all require you to install multiple apps and plugins and then connect them all and pay subscription fees to each app if you want all the benefits. This app is the only one stop shop that I’ve come across, and it’s been super easy to use. Highly recommend.

TSD great and the App is icing on the cake

TSD works very well automatically identifying print issues and the app is a nice bonus.

Recently TSD spotted a failure “smells fishy” of one component within a multi-component print. I was printing black PETG on a black bed and when I first looked in I didn’t see any issue. However while double checking I saw that one component had broken loose and spaghettie was forming. I got lucky and was able to stick that one component back in place so it didn’t trash all the others. Lost that one but TSD helped me save the others.

App is a nice bonus to remotely visually monitor. I am a TSD Pro (paid subscription) user but 3D printing is just a hobby. My TSD client runs on a raspberry pi4 using the Pi-HD camera and 16mm lens.
