What’s New

Version 3.10

Hi everyone! We hope you’ve had a great summer.

Since June we’ve been working away on our big fall update – Things 3.10 – and it’s now ready for iOS 13 and watchOS 6. This update introduces great new features for iPhone, including major improvements for Siri Shortcuts.

We’re also preparing Things 3.10 for iPad – with new features including support for multiple windows and much more – so stay tuned for that update later this month.

Here’s what’s new for iPhone:

SIRI SHORTCUTS
Shortcuts has received a major overhaul this year, and we’ve added support for all the great new features. This means that any shortcuts you created in the past will need to be rebuilt.
• We now have four official Things actions in the Shortcuts app: Add To-Do, Show To-Do, Show List, and Run Things URL.
• You can go to Settings > Siri & Shortcuts to find some tips on how to create your first shortcuts.
• Note that the old Workflow action “Add Things To-Do” is still visible in the Shortcuts app, but you should avoid it completely (it will eventually be removed).

NEW SHARE EXTENSION
Our extension for sharing stuff into Things from other apps was previously an Action Extension (in the Share Sheet’s row of grey buttons); we’ve now converted it into a Share Extension, and you’ll find it in the row of colored app icons instead.
• It now looks like the in-app new to-do popover.
• You can now choose the target list for your new to-do.

SYSTEM DARK MODE
The OS now has a system-wide setting for Dark Mode and we’ve added full support for it. This means our toggle based on screen brightness has been removed and Things now adapts to the system-wide setting (unless you set Things’ mode manually, which is still possible).

NEW GESTURES
Things supports the new text gestures on iOS 13. These gestures make it easier to select, copy, and paste; you can also undo typing with a swipe. See Apple’s documentation for more info.

REMINDERS INBOX
Apple’s Reminders app has changed quite a bit this year. We’ve reworked the existing feature for adding to-dos to Things’ Inbox; it’s now called “Reminders Inbox” in Settings.

REMINDERS IMPORT
We’ve also built a new “Reminders Import” feature for users who want to migrate their entire Reminders database over to Things. You’ll find this feature in Settings > Import.

ACCESSIBILITY
Things now has improved support for Voice Over and the new Voice Control feature – especially for navigating and scrolling lists, editing to-dos, and reordering to-dos.

Everyone needs a task manager—and Things is adaptable enough for anyone. This Apple Design Award winner is crisp and lightweight, featuring a simple but effective interface. The ever-present Magic Plus button makes it easy to add to-do’s from anywhere in the app, and organizing items is as simple as dragging them where you want them. It’s like the unicorn of productivity tools: deep enough for serious work, surprisingly easy to use, and gorgeous enough to enjoy staring at.

Dream come True

I am one of those who seldom spare time to write reviews. By the way in the 7+ years I have been an Apple products consumer, this is probably the third time at most I am writing a review for an App.
I have dreamed for an app like this one many years before. I used to scan the App Store to download top rated apps, but I could never find the type of app I was looking for. They just weren’t practical. For instance sometimes you want to write down something that just popped in your head. You don’t want to worry about figuring out then if it’s a reminder or a To-do or just a note. You don’t want to worry about setting it for a specific day and a specific time. You just want to quickly jot it down in your To-dos/ reminder/ notes and be able to easily access it and take care of details later.
I had given up on my hope of finding an app that would solve this type issue. So for the past few years, I had just been relying on the iOS default note app.
I have been using this app now for a few months and it has everything I have ever dreamed of in a To-do/ reminder app. Honestly I am beyond satisfied. I have now found “the piece of resistance of my existence”!!

A Personal Assistant on your iPhone

From a productivity standpoint, Things3 is amazing. Its interface was BUILT for Apple devices with ONLY productivity in mind. I really hesitated to give it a try because it seemed too minimal for my needs, but I was wrong. The simplicity is exactly why it’s a phenomenal productivity app. It’s less project planner and more personal assistant. But this doesn’t mean it can’t be used for project management too. Its range of straightforward but elegant features make it perfect for even complex projects.

I’ve tried all the major task management apps and this one was the only app that actually increased my productivity. With the other apps, I ended up spending more time messing with and customizing the app, resulting in a lot of lost time. Things3 has a UI that doesn’t get in the way of actually getting things done but actually facilitates it.

Whether you’re looking for a simple personal task management app or something that can handle complex projects with lots of moving parts, Things3 is definitely worth a try.
