Thronebreaker is a single player campaign for GWENT: The Witcher Card Game. Choice-driven, and cast with rich, multi-dimensional characters, it once again thrusts gamers into the monster-infested world of The Witcher.

Crafted by the developers responsible for some of the most iconic moments in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the game spins a truly regal tale of Meve, a war-veteran queen of two Northern Realms - Lyria and Rivia. Facing an iminent Nilfgaardian invasion, Meve is forced to once again enter the warpath, and sets out on a dark journey of destruction and revenge.

Amazing, Interesting Game

I love this game, and want more Witcher universe games like this. The puzzle battles are especially fun and creative.

I have run into a battle-breaking glitch, a video of which I will post on Twitter. There is an issue with targeting during battles, especially after the 1st round. Targeting a card with an ability doesn’t work at times. This problem doesn’t exist in Gwent, just Thronebreaker. I hope the developer can patch soon.

Great RPG/Card Game

This is a great game! I played it on PS4 and was super excited to see it on iOS. Part collectible card game and part RPG. You play as Queen Meve, gathering an army to fight an invasion. Characters you recruit in the story add unique cards to your Gwent Deck, which acts as your army in card battles. The decisions you make throughout the story as Queen can be tough, and they have serious consequences. You can easily lose characters/cards along the way. It is a great story, with an amazing set of characters, and it ties in perfectly to the books if you have read them. The gameplay is also very varied and keeps the game fresh. For example, not every card game is a straight “battle” where highest score wins. Many are unique puzzle games, where you get a unique one time deck and need to figure out how to solve puzzles with just Gwent cards. I was blown away by how many different “mini games” they could make. Thronebreaker will never get the praise as the “masterpiece” Witcher 3 received, but it is a hidden gem. CD Projekt Red is my favorite developer and this game deserves a sequel. Yes it is on the more expensive side for an iOS game, but considering I spent 30-40 hours playing this on a console, it is a bargain.

Bought this game, downloaded it from the App Store, open it for the first time and it already needs a 2 gb update somehow. So I start that and soon realize it won’t load if I’m not in the app so I can’t use my phone at all. It’s loading extremely slowly, then at around 60% I go off the screen for a minute to use my camera, then I go back and the app refreshed and starts the 2 gig download all over again from the beginning!! After it had been loading for like 45 minutes already. I know my slow internet connection isn’t helping anything but I should be able to do other things on my phone while it updates as long as I don’t close out of the app. I’m extremely frustrated with this app and I haven’t even gotten to use it yet!! You need to remove it from the store until you work out these bugs, or make a free beta version so you can test it out and not steal people’s money.

Edit: after reading some other reviews I’ve discovered it’s not my internet connection causing the slow loading time. Also it froze at 99.9%. I’m absolutely livid.
