TimeStory helps you create graphical timelines—project plans, roadmaps, personal journals, histories, or any other illustration of events or tasks—quickly and easily, while avoiding the complexity of project management tools.
Sketch out events by pointing, clicking, dragging and dropping. Focus in on days, zoom out to decades, or set your scale anywhere in between. Style your documents, choosing fonts, sizes, event shapes, and colors, and attaching your own images.
Present and organize your events directly, with quick filtering, zooming, highlighting, and navigation controls, or publish your work elsewhere with image and PDF export. Exchange event data using CSV import/export. Group your events into collapsible sections.
TimeStory is fast and simple enough to let you quickly capture rough ideas, and robust and flexible enough to let you build, refine, and publish even large, complex timelines.
This version fixes a bug which could cause slow updates while editing text within the document, and which could cause increased memory use over time.

I'm using this to sketch out product roadmap overviews. It's extremely easy to use, and it's very fast to put together a quick timeline, unlike most other solutions I've tried.
Just what I was looking for
I have been looking for an app that can show on a timeline the components of my life, and this does it.
Under one section called Family I have my parents, spouse, and kids spanned out on the timeline, providing a visual comparison of who lived when and for how long.
I have another category called Employment with my career mapped out along the timeline.
Another category is Education, showing which schools I attended.
Another category is Houses, showing the addresses where I lived and when.
The Travel category has my travels laid out on the timeline.
Other categories are Cars, Motorcycles, Computers, Cameras.
TimeStory is a very useful app and very different from other timeline apps I've used. It's easy to figure out, but the documentation and HELP is excellent. Best of all, the developer is quick to respond to suggestions so this app has a bright future.
If you're not sure about spending the $$, then be sure to download the free trial app on the developer's website.

Thank you for the great review! That's an interesting use of the app. And I also appreciate all the suggestions and input from you and others; it's been helpful.
Finally Found What I Needed!
I'm a web designer and needed a simple method of tracking my projects and tasks. I spent hours trying various project management systems and gantt chart apps, and none of them fit my needs. All were either way too complicated, were overkill for my needs, or had confusing interfaces. Finally I found TimeStory and it allows me to do exactly what I want...create customizable timelines for various projects.
The only suggestions I'd make at this point are to try to improve the font rendering (it's a bit rough), and make the drag-n-drop interface smoother.
One feature request is to add an option to show the date range in each section, auto-generated based on the duration of the tasks/items within the timeline.
Also, will the app run on mac os more recent than Mojave?
Thanks for this great tool!
Developer Response ,
Thank you for your kind review and feature input! To answer your question, TimeStory works on any OS since Mojave, and is updated for both Big Sur and Apple Silicon. I'd like to get more info on the font-rendering issue you saw and discuss your suggestions, if you could drop an email to email@example.com. Thanks!
