Tinted Folders Lite 4+

I LOVE this app. I've used it for years. It really is 100% free! (Never any ads, and it doesn't bug you every second to pay for the non-free version. You won't even realize it's a freebie when you use it!) It is SUPER SIMPLE to use. You literally do drag the folder from your desktop (or whatever folder it is in) into the "box" in the app, select a color, hit "apply", and THAT'S IT. You can make any shade you want (so bright yellows/whites/greens won't burn your eays out - lol!). This may just be a quirk of my out-dated OS, but a few tips: (1) To have a colored an alias, you have to do the folder first, THEN create the alias (i.e. already existing alias-es don't "update" to the current folder color). (2) Also, if you make a folder one color, then change your mind and use the app to make it a new color, you have to change something in the re-colored folder in order for it to LOOK like the new color -- I just stick a random file in, then take it out again. Why Apple doesn't let you color folders but just puts an annoying "dot" before the name is beyond me! (FYI, when you transfer these to a Windows machine the color does not seem to stay.) PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get this app!!!!! It is so perfect and so easy! :)

I do graphic design and have a million folders for each project, and the fact that this allows me to change the color of the folder to literally anything I want (and therefore the primary color of that particular project) is an unbelievable help to me. plus you can choose the shape of the folder so that it all still fits the style of your current defualt folder is such a small but great detail that I really appreciate. you can even change the color of multiple folders all at once! i'm obsessed.

I had gone through the laborious task a few years ago to change colors on my folders. Never again! With this app, aside from the amazing range of colors and hues, I discovered I could take the folders I had colored previously back to the original standard blue and change to new colors and new folders. Easy, crazy fun! Thank you!
