Description

TMS Sidekick is a mobile computerized maintenance management solution (CMMS) that allows technicians to access their TMS OnSite/TMS OnLine applications from Accruent.

The Power of TMS On-the-Go
TMS Sidekick provides technicians with the power to communicate on the go and resolve every day service requests and other tasks quickly and accurately. Technicians can access the TMS database, retrieve asset data, perform scheduled maintenance, and even collect data for work orders on-the-fly.

What’s New

Version 2.7

• After using the Barcode Scanner within the Inspect It area of Sidekick, and then completing the WO, a user can click 'Home' or 'Scan Next Asset' and resume scanning a new asset without the app crashing, click Scan Next Asset now reloads the barcode scanner as expected.

• A fix was identified to make Sidekick syncing more secure. All Sidekick users should logout and log back into Sidekick after this update.

• Users can now manually type a search string in from inside the barcode scanner view of the 'Inspect IT' feature when barcode scanning does not succeed.

Really needs more development.

I use this in a hospital environment. While our dashboards are built to our needs by onsite staff on the PC side of things, the sidekick app is pressingly difficult to work with day to day. Screen space utilization is poor, and being unable to view different types of work requests in tabs like on PC. With the sheer amount of requests I deal with normally, ‘My Work Requests’ being all that’s available makes quite a mess for me. Filtering and sorting is quite clunky, and not being able to query for requests by assigned user (only time charges) really makes this a non-solution for being on the go.

Could Improve

I was waiting to write this review until the latest update came out to see if any major changes happened, but unfortunately there aren’t so many. I was really hoping that the asset or work order query results would be stretched to the full width of the screen instead of just a small part of the right hand side of the screen. I am about to roll out this app to my technicians and was trying to decide on a mobile device (IPhone or IPad) because the information isn’t very large and is squeezed into such a tiny space. Disappointing. Other than cleaning up the menu tab and a fancy new app icon, there isn’t much improvement that I have seen yet. Perhaps a bit more exploring will prove otherwise. The app is good, but not as user friendly as I’d like to see. Some of my old timers will be a bit confused with the new fangled technology as they are with the desk top version. Overall the app is pretty decent. Not great, but good.

Mediocre

It does the job, sort of. Not like I have a choice this is the system my employer chose. We had it for about 6 years now. The desktop version isn’t too bad. The app is cluttered, clunky and seems to have been designed without concern for the technician but maybe more for the database people & management. It could be better, though I suppose it could be worse also.
