The onion router - TOR - is user friendly, killer security

These folks are perhaps the strongest voice for freely using the web without censorship.

As one must peel an onion, they use a variety of steps to offer us as perfect anonymity as possible.

Inside the Great Fire Wall of Xi thought, onion routers offer many folks a reliable “window on the world.” Met online a number of journalists in Beijing, and there seems a consensus that TOR with the virtual private net is their favorite way to avoid Xi’s huge surveillance machine.

They offer opportunities to help. Running your own web node probably takes more hardware than most of us have, but even I got to attempt putting their user documents into plain English. Seriously excellent folks help volunteers.

Have to reconnect everytime after waking; Fremium annoying tactics

EVERY single time your iPhone/pad wakes after a few minutes of inactivity, you have to manually reconnect by going into the app or your VPN toggle in Settings. Emailed them and they said it’s necessary to protect your identity. Don’t consider myself a newbie when it comes to tech, and honestly don’t understand that. Regardless, the fact that you have to manually reconnect dozens of times per days is a dealbreaker to me….

In addition, an ad for the Premium will eventually pop up if you decide to do anything in the app. Worse, when I tried out the free 3 day trial, happened to read the fine print and it says you have to cancel the trial 24 hrs before the 3 days or it automatically renews, deceptive. And despite saying you can use it on all devices, couldn’t transfer the trial to my iPad, and customer service never answered how….

Premium has decent speed and I think protectivity but the faults above make it impossible to use for me

App is NOT free and cannot be used without paying!

If the company replies to this review with their canned message that Tor is free and does not contain ads, it is a LIE. As soon as you install the free version, within 2 minutes, an ad pops up saying to purchase a monthly subscription to continue and there is NO WAY to exit out of this pop up ad. You can see DOZENS of reviews here saying the same thing. How can the company possibly reply to these reviews saying it can be used for free? It's simply NOT TRUE. You can NOT close the pop up window that advertises the subscription without purchasing it. So I figured I would try the subscription. What the heck. It outright doesn't work. Almost every website you go to, before the page even loads, it pops up with an error message saying your connection has been broken. So my conclusion is this app is utterly useless, whether you pay for it or not.
