Does not do text well

I needed to trace a logo and I don't have Adobe Illustrator on my laptop, so I purchased this. The logo was a circle with some lines through it and then text. The circle element was almost perfect, though the top was flatter than the rest of the circle. But the text was not good. I tried adjusting the settings but could not get it working any better.

REVISION:
To clarify, I didn't think Adobe's autotrace would have been better. If it had been installed on my laptop I would have redrawn the logo from scratch and used fonts for the text areas. Later in the day I had a better Internet connection and downloaded Illustrator and redrew the logo. As an experiment, I did have Adobe try to autotrace the logo, and it was no where near as clean as the one from TracedLines. In retrospect, this program does an excellent job (better than Adobe) at autotrace - but you may still need a vector editor to address issues that may come up.

From your description I can not understand the problem with your text or what settings you tried. Please contact me through my website and I would be happy to totally investigate your problem. My website has an example of TracedLines compared to other applications for tracing text. I don’t think Adobe could do better with the right settings. I am always adding new features and would be happy to get input on the next update.

REVISION Response: Thanks for your comments. Just had TracedLines 4.0 approved and it should be available in the App Store. There is now a Vector Editor. It has a few innovative features like the ability to edit a color layer without grouping and ungrouping. A background reference image is available when editing layers. Fill, stroke, and opacity are now changeable after the trace. Also, you can add Text using a precise font as well as perfect circles and squares with minimal nodes. There is now the ability to add and delete nodes as well as convert nodes to lines, curves, or smooth curves.

Always crashes when opening a file.

I just purchased the app (version 7.1) from the App store. Installed it, launched it, and tried to open a PNG (and a TIFF, JPEG, PDF). After a few seconds pause the app crashes.

On an 27-inch iMac (2017), Quad-Core i7, 40GB RAM, macOS 12.0.1.

The developer quickly fixed issue causing the crash on macOS 12.0.1. The app is perfect for what I need. Thanks for the quick response.

Developer Response ,

Thank you for purchasing the App. Please download version 7.2 which was released today. There was a problem with TracedLines running on Monterey macOS 12.0.1 that has been fixed.

GREAT APP!!!

Exactly what I was looking for. Has alot of controls to give you what you want for output. Does a great vector tracing job. I didn’t know what an SVG file was, but Illustrator opens right up with no problems. Simplifies what is really hard to do in Photoshop or Illustrator and reminds me of a great tracing program we had back in the 80’s and 90’s that doesn’t exist anymore.
BUY IT. IT WORKS here in 2019 and almost into 2020 now. TEN THUMBS UP.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the review! Just released version 5.0.
