OK for one bulb

Tried running this with 4 bulbs and it basically could keep up with Adagio for Strings, maybe. It tries to scan through the assigned bulbs, the more you add, the slower the tempo of music it can keep up with. One bulb can kind of keep up with typical rock/pop material, but even one additional bulb slows it down too much.

Really need to run each bulb in a separate thread, scanning like this doesn’t scale.

Thank you for your review. Our internal logic is somewhat different: whenever we detect a beat, we trigger (more or less random) one light (initially, we triggered all lights but this resulted in a too heavy load on the Tradfri gateway). Hence the number of lights should not make a difference. Obviously, this doesn't seem to match your observation. We would appreciate it if you could contact us at to analyse this in a bit more detail.

Cool app

I don't know why there are so many negative reviews, it works perfectly fine for me. The one thing I would like is for an explanation of the modifications one can make in regards to the range of colors of the lights. There's a small hear icon, there seems to be a delay when changing the range, and I'm unsure as to how exactly that effects the lights. Other than that, for 2 bucks you can't beat this app. I'm only giving four starts because I think simple instructions should be included instead of just at the beginning of the app introduction. Thank you!

Developer Response ,

Thank you for the nice review! You made some fair remarks. Right now, the only way to see the instructions is to uninstall and reinstall the app but that's indeed not very user-friendly. Feel free to contact us at since we are not 100% sure which icon you're referring to in particular.

Good idea but...

That sounded like a good app and had good reviews on play store, but it only works when the app is open and you can’t play music on that device. The lights do not coordinate. Waste of money...

Developer Response ,

Our new release (1.5) supports running in background so you might want to give it a second try? We would also like to investigate why the lights do not coordinate to the beats, so we would appreciate it if you could contact us at
