Anyone who’s booked train tickets in the UK knows it can be a labyrinthine task. Am I buying off-peak tickets? What is off-peak? What is “super” off-peak? Am I getting the best deal? We were thrilled to have all this—and more—finally made clear as day by a souped-up Trainline app. It’s become as essential to our train travel as a fully charged phone battery.
This has been a HUGE time saver for me while being a first timer in Italy! It is SO convenient, however, I am jet-lagged and have booked the wrong ticket TWICE because a different station was the top choice and I didn’t realize until after booking. I know it’s a user error, but if they were able get a “only this station” toggle in there, it would be getting 5 stars from me 💖
I tried to cancel just one of the two tickets on a booking and the app doesn’t provide any option for this or the website and you try and try and try and of course you get to the end of the process where you have to either cancel the whole booking and you don’t want to so you don’t know if there’s a step where you can choose which tickets on the book and you want to cancel what you want to preserve

I have found Trainline to be a great way to buy tickets in Europe across numerous international borders. However, it is unreliable. It will state that no trains are available and a minute later shows pages of available trains. Payment is an adventure. Payments can be declined without a reason being given and minutes later be accepted. Surely, Trainline can do more to improve the app’s reliability.
I purchased train tickets 1 month before my travel, Trainline has all my information, it would have been nice to inform me several weeks in advance that my train was being cancelled do to yet another train strike in Italy, while visiting in Italy I heard about a train strike on Friday the 3rd, so I’m sure Trainline knew and could have warned me weeks prior to my travel or at least provide me with options, I received cancellation 30 minutes before my train was schedule to leave.
Hi there, I'm sorry to hear that your journey was disrupted. We aim to notify all passengers when changes are made to the schedule however, this isn't always possible. For any exceptional refund requests you would need to speak to the carrier directly. Thanks. Lorcan
Please do yourself a a favor and book your tickets directly from the train company. If you have connecting trains and one is delayed, they will not refund you nor help you find a solution. If you paid for the travel insurance and then try to cancel the ticket it will not let you even though that’s what the travel insurance is for. If I could give this app 0 stars I would! Please please please book directly, this app is a travelers worst nightmare. Honestly is anyone worst nightmare
Hi there, not all refunds are possible via your account. I'd suggest reaching out to our Customer Service team about this. You can find their contact details here > bit.ly/4m0ZNK7 Just to let you know, insurance claims are made through the 3rd party insurer. You can find their contact details with information on how to claim, here > bit.ly/3zg40Hk Thanks, Lorcan
This app is fine for booking in advance, as long as you are ***absolutely positive*** about the times you want to leave the train station. There is no mercy if you miss a connection because your first train was delayed. You will simply have to book another train for the same price as the one you missed. Their Companjon insurance app is an absolute scam, and you should not use it unless you ANTICIPATE having a medical emergency or severe weather. My advice is to simply buy a ticket at the train station. Don’t waste your time with this app.
