Description
The app makes it easy to play a recording of an interview while you type a transcription of what was said.
Important note: This app does not automatically transcribe the speech for you - it's a utility to make it easy for you to type up what was recorded.
Using a set of keys that are not normally used in transcription, a typist can pause, go back, replay and even play at a slower speed without changing the pitch.
The keys to control play are configurable and the amount of slow down and number of seconds to skip backwards can be set.
A timestamp of how far through the recording can be inserted into the text.
Resulting text can be exported to plain text.
The document includes the audio recording so the original doesn't need to be kept after importing.
Application help has more detailed information including how to use macOS dictation.

It works, but needs some fixes to make it better
I really liked this at first. It seemed very easy to use and simple, which I like. Then the person I transcribed for asked me why there were so many gaps. I started watching very closely to see what was happening. It would inadvertently move from one place to another, highlight some text and delete it. I type really fast, so I had slow way down and watch very closely to make sure I caught it when this happened.
Once in a while, for no apparent reason, it would also fast forward several times when I hit the rewind key and I would have to stop and try to figure out where I was by rewinding a bunch of times.
Today, I was using it to fix a bunch of errors, so it was a long document. As I played and read the audio, it would often jump down to the end of the document. Then I would have to scroll back up and find my place again.
I’m really glad this project is done and I don’t have to use this software routinely. It was about to drive me crazy.
On the positive, I do love that it corrected misspellings. That was a nice feature that some of the other apps did not have.

Thanks for the feedback. Version 1.3.1 should fix the cursor jumping to the end bug. Should be out in a day or so. Peter.
Will not work!!
I tried to transcribe a m4a file. DO NOT Purchase. I wasted money on a falsely advertised product.

What didn’t work? Perhaps try re-saving the audio file if it can’t be loaded.
