6 GREAT THINGS ABOUT TRANSIT:
1) THE BEST REAL-TIME DATA
The app uses the best transit agency data sources like MTA Bus Time, MTA Train Time, NJ Transit MyBus, SF MUNI Next Bus, CTA Bus Tracker, WMATA Next Arrivals, SEPTA Real-Time and many more. We combine that data with our fancy ETA prediction engine so that you get the most accurate real-time info possible for all transit modes - including buses, subways, trains, streetcars, metros, ferries, ridehail and more. Prefer to travel on two wheels? With GPS, you can see live bikeshare and scooter locations right on the map.
2) TRAVEL OFFLINE
Bus schedules, stop locations, subway maps and even our trip planner are available offline.
3) POWERFUL TRIP PLANNING
See fast and easy trips combining buses, subways and trains – the app even suggests routes that combine multiple options in one trip like bus + bike or scooter + metro. You’ll find great trip plans that you never even considered! Don’t like to walk a lot or use a certain mode or transit agency? Personalize your travel in the settings.
4) GO: OUR STEP-BY-STEP NAVIGATOR*
Receive departure alarms to catch your bus or train, and get alerted when it’s time to get off or transfer. When using GO, you’ll also crowdsource more accurate info and real-time ETAs for other passengers– and rack up points and thank yous for being the most helpful rider on your line.
5) USER REPORTS
See what other riders have to say! With millions of users contributing, you’ll get helpful info on crowding levels, on-time performance, the closest subway exits, and more.
6) EASY PAYMENTS
Pay your transit fare and buy bikeshare passes directly in the app in over 75 cities.

What’s New
Version 5.17.20
Is it summer? No. But it’s palpably close. Queues have started forming at the ice cream shop next to the office, our SPF 100 sunscreen is back in the tote bag, and we’ve finally bid adieu to the toe warmers we’ve packed in our bike shoes all spring long.
Now that the ides of March (and April… and May…) are thankfully behind us, the seeds of a very busy spring at Transit HQ are now bearing big juicy mangos for you to behold:
- Bike. Transit. Bike. That’s right: the moment you’ve been waiting for… and sending us many polite DMs about… has finally arrived: you can now plan multimodal transit trips that include your personal bike on BOTH SIDES of a transit trip, not just one.
- (If you’re more of a “park and ride” multimodal biker? You can swap double-ended bike trip suggestions for one-way bike trips in the settings.)
- Thanks to our dev Quan for helping us set a speed record on Strava for Lionel-Groulx to Jean-Talon! Just kidding, we would never…
- Bonjour, AutoGO! We’ve been slow-rolling this one, so you may have seen this in the wild… but we’re now able to match you to transit vehicles *as soon as you open the app* mid-bus ride
- What does this mean? It means you can now start a GO trip in a single tap, without having to first plan a trip or manually select a line
- Thanks to AutoGO, we’re now getting a boost in GO trips started (over 1M trips auto-detected so far!) which helps us improve your city’s real-time data
- Big kudos for our data science magicians, Marisa, Quentin, and Ayser, for all their brilliant work on this
- Curious how GO’s making your city’s real-time data better? We got a new bloggity-blog all about it: blog.transit.app/autogo
- Lastly, we just launched our 900th supported city, ooh yeah
- Hello Guadeloupe, Réunion, and a few other hamlets and shires
- Un gros merci to our transit analysts: Brody, Derek, Elijah, Marco, Sara, Tim, plus our recently-returned veteran DJ Nic for bringing Transit to more and more places, faster than ever before
- (We hope you have the breath capacity for the number of candles you’re gonna have to blow out at the next Transit office party!)
- Anything else?
Yes. Something big. Something huge.
We’ll give you half-a-dozen guesses but we’ll only be able to do the big reveal in August…
Rate us five stars if you love cliffhanger release notes.

Editors’ Choice
Lots of apps can offer driving directions—but what if you’re not driving at all? That’s where Transit comes in. The travel planning app shows you how to get from point A to point B via train, bus, rideshare—and now even bikeshare and scooter. The app will seek out your best route, offer a few alternate options, and let you know how long you can expect to be in transit.
My GO-to transit app in Miami-Dade.
I been a fan since the days of its origins when the app was a necessity to track live down the busses. And although it was lucky matter to see a bus on live tracking since very few will be using it on the Go feature, the interface was more user friendly and the app didn’t freeze as much as the official one from the county. I never reviewed an app before and much less type this much but credit is well due on this one. Thank you to the entire team behind this app because the work you guys have put into it shows very well and make it worth a payable subscription.
The new ticketing feature makes the cherry at top. I struggled with digital passes thru the official county app and all because I forgot to unlock my card one time for the charge and now it seems like my card is banned from direct onboard usage or even on the app to buy passes or credits. So transit now saves my life by not only allowing one way passes purchase that can be used later on another time but also digitalizing passes and takes any card on my apple wallet. Paying the subscription really makes it better app than the official one by interface and ease to get the info needed and to the destination!
Congratulations guys for your great work, it is highly appreciated and valued.
Pay Close Attention
This app is essential for my travel to and from college. I've noticed however that the time it tells you to leave is way too late every time, and I end up missing the bus by a minute or two. Even leaving earlier than the recommended departure, I will miss the bus. Not only that, but it has no way of alerting you when you've taken the wrong bus. It says "Unplanned Detour" which is really inconvenient for someone new to public transport who doesn't know the stops for other buses. You'll believe you're on the right bus and there IS a detour, maybe because the stops are correct up until a certain point when really the app just can't track you because you're obviously not on the route of the bus you were supposed to take. Please find a way to fix this. I don't know if you could make some sort of route recognition that would know if you've taken an actual detour or if you're simply on the wrong bus. On top of that, it gave me an estimated arrival at my destination, changed to a half hour later. All when the bus was the WRONG bus. Why on earth would there be an estimated arrival for that, if the bus is never getting there in the first place?
