UPATE: Problem fixed! This company listens to its customers! Used to be an amazing app, but since the last update, it doesn’t open 90% of the time. I have to shut down the app and wait for a few minutes and then try again a few more times before it opens. Kind of defeats the purpose of timing how long you’ve got your aligners out! Please fix and I will re-review.

I was at Week 5 when I found this app. Mind you, I should have been on Week 30 but I was awful at keeping these things in consistently so I found myself falling further and further behind. Haven’t had a day below 21 hours and always get notified when it’s time to change these. A great investment in my ortho care.

I have been using the TrayMinder for a little over one week and I have found it to be very helpful and assisting me with tracking how long I have my aligners in. I would recommend this app to assist you in ensuring that your aligners are in for the time that has been recommended by your orthodontist.

I’ve been using this app for over a year and paid $1.99 to remove ads. However, they recently changed their payment model to a monthly subscription and are no longer honoring the previous purchase I made to remove ads. Now, if I want to remove ads, I have to pay $5 per month. The worst part is that these aren’t just normal ads, they added video ads where you have to wait a few seconds to skip it. Very bad practice from this developer. I would look elsewhere.

UPDATE - the Apple Watch functionality was restored for existing paid users after two updates. It’s a fantastic app with that feature enabled. But I don’t agree with putting that feature behind such an expensive subscription for new users. I’d support a basic tier for that one feature for $2 a month, considering past users paid $2 outright, but $5 a month ongoing feels pretty steep to me.ORIGINAL REVIEW -I’ve used this app for 12 months on recommendation of my orthodontist. It was so useful I paid for the Apple Watch upgrade, and to remove the ads. Now this week the Apple Watch integration has stopped working until I subscribe to the app. This change wasn’t communicated to users until it was implemented and I lost access to features I already paid for. Extremely disappointed.

This was an outstanding little app for tracking tray wear time, meal times with trays out, and documenting photographic progress of my treatment. I only have a couple of months to go and now the Teethies (progress selfies) are behind a paywall at $6/mo. I don’t deny there are costs for developers’ efforts and data storage, but this late in the game for me it’s not worth the hassle of starting and stopping yet another subscription. Super disappointed since I sang the app’s praises to my dentist, orthodontist, hygienists and friends/family and won’t “see” and share the weekly progress through to the end. Subscriptions are financial death by a thousand cuts. It’s still a good app, but the “upgrade” paywalling original features without warning is massively disappointing.
