Added ability to view 3D meshes with low-res or hi-res textures. Low-res textures look almost as good, but use a lot less battery to view. All our 3D meshes still export with hi-res textures.
3.14: Back by popular demand, we're bringing back our original scanning method! Simply keep the object centered in the screen, and move around the object.
Don't forget to try import images into Trnio. Click on the IMPORT icon on the top left of the scanning view.

Doesn’t produce clean results
App doesn’t extrapolate to finish shapes. App doesn’t intelligently detect the boundaries of the object, commonly leading to the inclusion of the surface it’s sitting on, parts of the background behind it, etc., and the edges it does detect are in no way clean and usable without a huge amount of manual post processing. App expects that the mobile device will move, but has no option to keep the device stationary and instead rotate the object to be scanned. Because of all of these problems and limitations, I struggle to find any real use for the app at all, other than maybe mild novelty? Certainly not ready for prime time.

Thanks for the suggestions. We'll be updating our servers with better algorithms in the near future (2 weeks). This will give more complete models with less noise.
Since our app allows a user the ability to scan anything (shoes, faces, cars, trees, etc), we are unable to 'intelligently' detect what the user is trying to scan. However, to better separate your model from the plane its on, place your object on a tablecloth or a magazine. This will improve the scan and allow for easy background removal in Meshlab.
The app does allow a user to import images from your camera roll. You can easily take pictures with the camera still and the object moving, and import them into Trnio. However, please make sure to mask the background (or have a background that has no detail). Our algorithms assume the camera moves around an object.
Thanks again for the suggestions and feel free to email email@example.com for any more suggestions!
I love this app. I've had it for years and think it's one of the most overlooked apps.
I use it to capture things that I think I'll be nostalgic about. Like my kid sleeping, a corner of my garden, a cool old car, childhood toys, or anything I want to keep for posterity. The other day I did a 3D model of my dog and 3 legged cat sleeping❤️
The selfie feature is pretty cool too!
One feature that I think would be cool is being able to like other people's models.
The best 3d scanning mobile solution
I’ve been searching for a good 3D scanning mobile solution since 123D Catch got cancelled and I think i finally found it. The speed of processing is impressive and the results turn out clean and clear, if you take good photos.
If it’s possible, it would be great to have USDZ support alongside obj. It would make it super easy to share with friends.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
