Good to know!

I think this is a great app because it keeps you challenged to monitor your driving habits. The things I don’t like about the app?
BREAKING…I live in South Florida. Gigs for breaking. Thank God I have breaks. The way people drive down here is insane. People constantly cutting you off pulling out in front of you, people crossing where they should not be. I think you should be awarded for a fast breaking because it alleviates encounter with another car or pedestrian! I don’t tailgate, I never have. I always assure that the car in front of me when I’m stopped that I can see the bottom of their tires because I have been rear-ended. It is not fun. One of the challenges of South Florida.
PHONE USE…A lot of times I have somebody in the car with me and they will use my phone for reasons of whatever. And I get gifted for phone use!. That’s another thing I don’t do. I have Bluetooth in my car, why would I?
SPEEDING… occasionally, we have to keep up with traffic. I almost had an issue with road rage one day when I was doing the speed limit and it wasn’t fast enough for the cars behind me on a single lane road. sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me! I do my best to maintain a speed limit, not always possible. but once again, having this app on my phone helps me to concentrate on being a better driver. Not necessarily courteous in South Florida because traffic is out of control here. But that’s not my fault.

I’m pleased

4/8/22: I thought this app would be annoying and constantly telling me I did something wrong. I had the Progressive Snapshot doohickie that you plugged into your car’s computer port and no matter what I did it would beep and flag me for hard breaking (sometimes I had to hard break because I was trying to break so softly that I ate 6 car lengths of space and then had press harder so I don’t hit the car in front all trying to avoid the inevitable beep). It has definitely made me a safer driver in the week that I’ve been using it because I’m mindful of speed (I didn’t speed anyway), car space distance for breaking, phone usage. I’m challenging myself to keep a good score. I inevitably get a hard brake when I get that yellow light that you can’t coast thru and have hit the brake to not blow thru a red light. I use this for my daughter too because she’s a bit of a lead foot (fast take off, speeding because “everyone else is doing it”). One thing that I do wish is that I could see her drive activity versus having to ask to see her app. I am able to change to passenger on my app when she’s the driver - there are times when it has automatically flagged me as the passenger and I’m not sure how that happens.

Review

It did get me to slow down on turns. I have been driving the same car for 20 years and am very comfortable with the way it handles. My wife likes it better when I slow for turns. I was accused of doing 39 mph in a 25, when I was on a road that was 40 mph. Other than that, I get along with the app. There is always going to be a stopped too quickly, but they are generally caused by the driver in front of you when they didn’t realize they almost passed the grocery store turn off. I have been retired for one year now, but before that I would drive for 4 to 6 hours a day as part of my work week. For the last 15 years, we always had a monitoring device in the dash, attached to the computer port. I am a safe driver and am comfortable using a tracking device. We are still not sure how it tells whom is driving when both my wife and I are riding together. I am also not sure if I can have my phone app run my Sirious XM program without being penalized for cell phone usage. I also like the fact that you can get back up to 100 with a few trips. I guess that’s all. If you could get back to me on the Sirius XM use and how it tells which passenger is the driver, I would ll feel that this long message was worth it.
