TrueMetronome is the only app worthy of being called a metronome. Almost all metronome apps boast about their accuracy, but users with sensitive hearing notice inaccurate beats all the time. Despite the failure of other apps, perfect time is possible for TrueMetronome: its unique engine creates perfect beats with ABSOLUTE ZERO error. For this reason, TrueMetronome is most accurate metronome app.

Sound quality is the second issue for software metronomes. Serious musicians prefer a natural sound filled with overtones, but all metronome apps play synthetic samples. Thus, you hear an artificial, dead sound. Moreover, the identical samples playing at the same frequency can drive any man crazy! TrueMetronome solves this problem thoroughly: all sounds are recorded from real metronomes and each beat's sound is a little different from the others. All this contributes to the natural sound which is easier on your ears.

Finally, an aesthetic, thoughtful interface is an important aspect of any application, and TrueMetronome pays particular attention to it. Creating an electronic metronome interface is simple, but TrueMetronome does not cut corners: it recreates the look and feel of a real mechanical metronome; every mark on the scale is labeled with a tempo mark, the deviation angle of the pendulum depends on the tempo, and the tempo is selected by dragging the weight.

It’s good to just have on your laptop. Not the best but reliable

I of course have a plethora of metronomes around the house. Some in gig bags, one on my phone, even a wearable one. I find myself using this particular metronome often since I have my laptop with me pretty much everywhere. It’s basic & it works. You literally can’t control anything except the tempo. The beauty is simplicity. I only rate if 4 stars because I hope the creator eventually adds some slight customization options but if he/she doesn’t then whatever I can live with that. Listen, a cup of coffee is $3.00 - just pick up a basic metronome with no bells and whistles instead of coffee one day. You’ll find yourself using this more than you think.

Absolute BEST traditional metronome

This is THE CLASSIC mechanical metronome used by students from about the 1900-70’s, until electronic pulse machines began to appear. No bells, no whistles, just a beautiful wooden pyramid metronome that sits, clicking away. If all you want/need is a simple, beautiful metronome, this is it.

Very Basic

This metronome is very basic. The only setting you can change on this app is the BPM. Despite the description of the app having great sound, I found the single available sound to be somewhat irritating. In my opinion, this app is over-priced for such a simple metronome. If you are looking for something that is as simple as it gets, this is the metronome for you. But, if you are looking for something you can adjust, you should probably keep looking.
