Excellent resource!

This is a great tool for me! The playing from the 2 studio trumpet players is outstanding and helps when playing back and forth, not only notes, but trying to emulate sound quality. I understand they’re 2 of the finest studio players in the country, having played on thousands of well-known artists’ projects. The routines begin fairly simply and progressively get harder - by the end they’re really tough (at least high speed double and triple tonguing and lip slurs up to Double C are tough for me 🙂) it also gives me the right amount of rest when practicing - so I don’t overplay and kill my chops too soon.
I highly recommend it - it will help any level of player.

Great routines by real professional trumpet players!

This is a great set of routines for the player who wants to see improvement in their daily, weekly, monthly trumpet/chop preparation for performance and practice. I love that each routine includes demonstrations by pro trumpet players. I am incorporating these exercises into my daily trumpet practice and I love it! I highly recommend this app!

Too Expensive, Unknown Content

Great idea for an app and it seems to work well, but it’s hugely expensive. $10 for each? And no discount if you buy them all? MAYBE if I knew what I was getting, but I can’t preview. $10, and no way to get a discount?

What about a subscription? I don’t know anyone who is willing to buy a $50 lesson book, which is essentially what you’re selling, without being able to look at every page. Obviously a digital format is quite different. I’d jump in a 1 week trial, for sure. I can’t imagine this app will sell at this price point.

I am a band director who was told about this app by a student’s parent who knows one of the developers and played trumpet with him back in the day. But there is no way I will even mention something to my students that I can’t preview, not to mention it’s out of reach financially for almost if not all of them.

Lower the price, make it a subscription, offer a trial.

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond with your opinions/suggestions.

I am glad that the app functions well for you. I spent a lot of time and money with my developer trying to make everything work smoothly in the app.

Let me address your concerns that created a one star review (ouch).

Discount for purchasing all five.
That is a great suggestion and I am in discussion with my developer about that.

I understand the concern about purchasing a routine without seeing the entire thing. The reason I created it the way I did is that the routine itself is what is being sold. I did not feel that I could make the sheet music all viewable. But your concern is certainly valid and understandable.

With that being said, I have added a lot of watermarked sample pages along with descriptions of each exercise that you can access in the ‘About the Routines’ section of the app. That should give you a whole lot of information in regards to what is inside of the app.

I thought about doing a subscription option, but honestly, I am still a fan of purchasing something one time and owning it (though as times change, things could adapt/develop)

In regards to pricing, there are 5 different routines within this app. This is not one lesson book. Not at all. The first routine, Daily Routines, is a 30 minute interactive daily routine. Think of it as a warm-up book with an audio CD. The Scales routine has over 45 minutes of scales and arpeggios in it all recorded by a phenomenal trumpet player. The Range (Extensions) routine is created by one of most in demand high note session players in the world.

What I mean is that each routine certainly stands on its own for only being $9.99. I tried to decide whether or not to create 5 separate apps and ultimately felt it made sense (financially and logistically) to have everything together in one place. I understand that the idea of spending $50 at one time may seem like a lot for students. But if you told your students to go out and buy a 30 minute daily routine, a 45 minute continued expansion(book 2), a 45 minute scales routine, a single, double and triple tonguing routine and a range routine by someone that toured with Maynard, played lead in The Smoking Section and has played on over 7500 recording sessions, well, it would not be unreasonable for those routines to be $9.99 each. Especially when you consider the fact that each routine is recorded by top professional trumpet players so you get the sheet music AND the audio for the routines.

I do appreciate your feedback, though obviously I would preferred for you to simply reach out to me directly through my website so I can address your concerns instead of the negative review. But this does give me the opportunity to hopefully address your comments so others can see my responses.

This is not some ‘big company’ making this but rather a trumpet player that has created routines for other trumpet players to try and help them improve at whatever level the are at currently. I hope this helps explain why I created this the way I did.

All the best, Jeff Anderson (creator/owner)
