The Truthbrush is a small, decorative device that fits easily on any manual or electric toothbrush. It allows you to track all toothbrush events and monitor the duration and coverage. We all know that brushing twice a day for two minutes is essential to your health. Children often brush for a short duration, miss coverage areas, or simply forget to brush at all. You can't be with your kids for every brushing, Truthbrush can.
With Truthbrush you can collect all brush event data seamlessly in the background. There is no start or stop button, it passively collects data so that you can view the trends over time. Truthbrush ends the "did you brush" argument and allows you to coach and reward your family for better oral health. According to the World Health Organization, dental care is the most unmet healthcare need in children and adolescents. Poor brushing leads to increased dental visits, cavities, periodontal disease, discolored teeth, and the loss of confidence that you get with a great smile. Studies have shown that bacteria in the mouth is related to heart disease, diabetes, pneumonia, and other serious health issues. Your family's health is the most important thing in your life. Game changer for my oral health!
I have been using this for a month, and at age 57 I have never taken better care of my teeth! It brush 2-3x a day for at least 2 minutes and it’s all thanks to Truthbrush.
I went to the dentist today and she commented on how great my gums looked and normally we are talking about another deep cleaning!
I definitely respond to the gamification aspect in other parts of my life so this works really well.
Does what it says; could be tweaked to be great
The tracker actually works. I’m amazed. That alone gets three stars.
The app is helpful and works. That also deserves three stars.
Thanks to the developers for making a helpful product that works!
What I would like to see to make it great:
- kid and parent profiles or app. As a parent, I don’t need to see the badges and it slows down me viewing how they brush. And unless I am in the room with them while they brush, they don’t see the badge (and that defeats the purpose of the hands-off tracking aspect) I don’t let my kids on my phone, especially in a bathroom (yuck) so they never see the badges. Please allow me as a parent to turn that off on my view. Please make a portal/profile for them to have on their devices to be motivated by the badges.
- I don’t understand the consistency or pattern of the badges. maybe badges could be themed for brush time, brushing quality, or times per day? And be consistent on when they are given (two kids brush “the same” in the app, but one gets a badge? That’s a letdown for one kid)
- I am so pleased with the ease of use with the physical tracker. But when it’s placed correctly, wet fingers can slip and click it off unexpectedly/unknowingly. Which results in “missed” brushings.
It works! But a few tweaks needed
The devices and app have made a huge difference in how my kids brush their teeth. My son is more diligent now about brushing twice a day and my daughter is on a mission to get a perfect score. The badges really motivate them to do better. However, it’s not clear to me why my 8 year old gets a badge every other day whereas my 10 year old is mostly only receiving the military ranking badges to reflect how many days he’s been using the app. It’s alittle demoralizing for him. Also, the coloring of the Movement section is confusing. If circular motions are good and sideway motions are discouraged, then circular should be green and sideways red.
