Instead of saving pictures manually from a web browser, which can be slow and time consuming, simply specify a Tumblr account you want to download pictures from and press Download! It's as easy as pressing one button!

NOTE: if an account doesn't share likes, you will not be able to download them.

IMPORTANT NOTES: this app uses Tumblr API, it doesn't scrape pages for pictures, so it's compliant with the Tumblr terms of use. However, any change made by Tumblr to their services and to their terms of use can break this app without notice. Should this happen, this app could start behaving not as intended or not work at all.

Useful but flawed

This app works reasonably well at downloading images from Tumblr blogs. But it has a very bad memory leak which shows up when downloading larger blogs and can crash your Mac if allowed to seize all of memory. The lack of an update in 2.5 years is not reassuring.

It has a limited ability to skip downloading some images (it caps out at 9999) this could easily be improved. Even better would be the ability to set either a date or number range for downloads. This would bea huge plus for capturing updates to blogs.

Worked Perfect! Quick and easy!

I ran the program, put in my Tumblr details, and clicked the Downlad Likes button. Voila!
In just a few short minutes, my first 1,147 pictures were downloaded! (a limit set by Tumblr)
I'll run it again tomorrow, where it should continue, without overwriting or re-downloading files.

One caveat was I tried to download photos to a folder already having some (from another program). This Tumblelog Picture Downloader didn't want to use that folder (nothing happened). Choosing a new, empty folder got the results described above.

Does what it says

It provides the basics well. It allows you to download all the images from a tumblr blog. You can even filter your download by tags. Unfortunately it does not tag the files that it downloads. I would give it 5 stars if it added the tags to the image using the new Spotlight tags. Or even OpenMeta 2.0 tags. It would also be great if you could pull up your history/log of what you’ve downloaded. Sometimes I forget where I saved a blog and this would be a nice way to keep track.
