CNET: "Watching March Madness in a crowded bar? You need this app!"

TUNITY is a FREE app that allows you to hear any live muted TV. You simply scan the TV with the camera in the app, and let Tunity to its magic: it uses machine learning technology to quickly identify the channel and the exact timing of what you’re watching, and streams the synchronized audio to your headphones or bluetooth speaker. With the new Quick Tune feature, channels you listened to are automatically saved for you, so you can listen again by choosing the channel from your list of saved channels, without the need to rescan!

Where Should I Use Tunity? To put it simply—ANYWHERE!

BARS & RESTAURANTS – Next time you're at a sports bar, hear all the action from the game YOU want to hear!

GYMS & FITNESS CENTERS – Tune in to any TV and move freely about the gym without disconnecting!

UNIVERSITIES – If your roommate is asleep or studying, Tunity lets you watch TV without disturbing them!

WAITING AREAS, AIRPORTS, HOSPITALS – Pass the time by fully tuning in to whatever you’re watching!

HOME, HOTELS & HARD OF HEARING - Listen privately to the TV at a volume that works best for you, without disturbing everyone else in the room!

Don't just take our word for it:

Ryan Hoover - Founder, Product Hunt: "Really clever. This would be a great companion at the gym to listen to muted TV's in front of rows of elliptical machines"

CNET: "Tunity streams TV audio to your smartphone…and it's darn cool…the app has the potential to be a huge hit"

Touch Arcade: "Tunity feels like magic- Particularly when paired with AirPods, and you seriously just have to try it."

Why didn’t I think of this

For years I’ve been had the problem of not being able to hear the TVs at bars. I’ve asked the bartenders to turn the volume on a TV and they always said no. Other than sporting events, what’s the point in having the TVs on then? I’d still like to hear the announcers for sporting events but at least I can see what’s happening. That’s not the case for anything else. Even the news I can only see the “Breaking News” bar but have no idea what the anchors are saying. Some bars have TV shows and even movies on - why? What’s the point? And don’t even get me started on closed captioning. It’s so delayed and there’s no point in trying to follow it.

Because of Tunity, now people can actually know what’s going on on the TV. I don’t usually write reviews but I felt as if I had to because of how often I use Tunity. Great customer service too. I reached out one time to ask a question and they were very prompt with their response. It’s one of those thing where it makes you think, “Why didn’t I think of that?” I wish I had , but it doesn’t matter - as long as I have it now.

At an airport, variable delay

Saw the sign to “hear this TV” and decided try the app. Tried syncing at least 8 times, and it seems completely unable to lock on to the channel (CBS) that is on. Tried searching directly for the channel, you can type in the first character, and the app locks up when typing “b” for CBS. Locks up and then crashes. Seems like a nice idea, completely worthless execution.

How about letting us search for the channel manually?

Edit: The next two times I was at an airport I decided to give it a try again, not sure if I downloaded the same version or a newer version because I had deleted it after the previous attempt. This time everything locked in quick enough, but I noticed that I had to keep adjusting the delay because it seemed that it kept on wandering. Only one out of the three times that I have tried this app has it been successful listening to a TV at an airport. I’ll probably keep trying just because of boredom while waiting for planes. As a media professional I am extremely adept at detecting sync issues between audio and video, so what I was adjusting may not bother other people.

Edit 2, 4/7/19... back at another airport and gave it a try again. Updated the rating b/c this is much better now. Locked in on the first try, and is running about 1.1 behind the video, easy enough to adjust. The sync seems stable and while I can still see a tiny sync gap, this is very very good. Gator Audio approved.

Absolutely Too Marvelous for Words!

For years I have tried all sorts of little battery powered transmitters, combined with a junky fm radio to listen to the tv audio. Just last week I made a special trip to the Apple store in Baybrook Mall to see if the tech gurus knew of any app which would allow me to use my i-phone to listen to audio from my tv.
They said “no.” When I discovered Tunity, I was astounded to say the least. It works flawlessly! The left and right slider device which allows the audio to sync with the program being watched is very clever, and it works! On top of that once a channel is put in sync, it goes onto a selectable list so in the future, when you want to hear NBC, for example, you simply
turn on Tunity and select it from the saved list. What could be easier and better than to use your earbuds plugged into your i-phone to hear the tv at your volume level? Nothing! This is almost too good to be true!
