  • Updated info for renewal, VPN stopped working within minutes!

    Gabi vom Rhein

This is weird. So I updated my info since renewal on yearly Grizzly account is due in 2 weeks and shortly after updated info was provided it doesn’t work anymore?! No connection no matter what ?! Really?!I don’t see how this would be connected but it is strange that within minutes of updating info everything stops working!Renewal? I don’t think so!

    Developer Response

Rawr! 🐻🌐Oh no—that definitely sounds frustrating, and we’re really sorry you’re running into this right when your renewal is coming up 💛We want to reassure you that updating your account or billing information shouldn’t affect your ability to connect—those systems are separate, so the timing is likely just an unfortunate coincidence 🐾Let’s get you back online! Here are a few quick things you can try:🔄 Restart the app (or give your device a quick reboot)🌍 Switch locations to see if a different tunnel connects🔌 Toggle TunnelBear off and back on📶 Check your internet connection without TunnelBear enabled🆕 Make sure your app is updated to the latest versionIf it’s still not connecting after that, we’d love to take a closer look—there might be something specific going on with your setup. Thanks for sticking with us, and we’ll do our beary best to get things running smoothly again 🐾Bear hugs, 🐻

  • Log out issues

    KZ$

I seem to not be alone in this but I used TB for over 2 yrs now and honestly it consistently logs me out. I've switched to another VPN for when this sub is over bc I was hoping for a fix but it hasn't seem to be a priority. Now it seems like it's happening to everyone. Great concept but just not functional enough for me anymore.

Rawr! 🐻🐾We appreciate you sharing this with us, and we'll be sure to pass along your feedback to therest of the TunnelBear team. Please don't hesitate to let us know if you have any otherrequests or if you run into any issues at tunnelbear.com/support!

  • Great app

    LifeSavermanager

This app has worked consistently for the last few years. Really great overall. Using the iPhone version of the app - I am having an issue since the last update where I actually cannot disconnect the VPN and the only way to do so is logging out. When I click on the little slide bar as usual, instead of toggling off, the whole bottom bar slides up and prompts me to choose or change the selected country. I have tried many different tapping/sliding methods to no avail. I cannot see anywhere else in the app to disconnect the VPN or any easy way to contact customer service. Hoping this issue will be resolved soon 🤞

  • Paid user gets dumped daily now - not a sheep.

    Frog Granite

For the last several weeks, TB disconnects. No notice, have to check. What do I have to log in again multiple times a day sometimes. This is on iOS and after years of use I have never had this happen. Hope you’all figure it out seems like alot of others are having the same issue. Why break something that worked so well? And isn’t the Don’t be a sheep message snarky?

    Developer Response

Rawr! 🐻🌐We’re really sorry to hear this—especially after you’ve been using TunnelBear smoothly for years 💛 That kind of unexpected disconnecting and repeated logins on iOS is definitely not the experience we want for you. From what you’re describing—VPN dropping without notice and asking you to log in multiple times—it sounds like something may have changed recently (either with the app update or iOS behavior) that’s interrupting the connection or session 🐾 And you’re right—if it was working well before, it’s frustrating when things suddenly break. Here are a few things that can help stabilize things:📶 Check “Always‑On VPN” / VPN configuration in iOS settings to ensure TunnelBear stays active🔋 Disable Low Power Mode or aggressive battery settings, which can kill background VPNs🔄 Log out once, then log back in and restart your device to refresh your session properly🧹 Reinstall the app to clear any update-related glitches🌍 Try a nearby server location for better stabilityIf the app is logging you out multiple times a day, that’s definitely not expected behavior—and we agree, it needs fixing 🐻 Your note about others experiencing it too is important, and feedback like this helps our team track down patterns faster. As for the “Don’t be a sheep” message—we hear you. It’s meant to be playful and on‑brand, but we totally understand how it might come across as a bit snarky depending on the moment or context. That kind of feedback really helps us strike a better tone 💛We truly appreciate you sticking with us and speaking up. Hopefully we can get things back to the smooth, reliable experience you’ve had for years 🐾

  • Worse every year

    Aviris

Been a long time user and finally canceled. Never works. Claims it is connected and secure, but reverts to “connecting” every few seconds. At the best of times, it works for a few minutes, then you have to switch back to this app where it will say “connected” when you get there, but immediately go through the connection process again. Switch back to your app and get a few more minutes. Repeat again and again.

    Developer Response

Rawr! 🐻🌐We’re really sorry to hear this—especially after you’ve been with us for such a long time 💛 That kind of unstable connection (constantly switching between “connected” and “connecting”) is definitely not the experience we want for you. From what you’ve described, it sounds like the VPN tunnel isn’t staying stable, even though the app is trying to reconnect in the background 🐾 This can happen due to a few things like network instability, OS-level interruptions, or something introduced in a recent update—but we completely understand how frustrating it becomes when it keeps repeating like this. Here are a few things that often help stabilize the connection:🔄 Switch Tunnel Modes / Protocols (if available in settings)📶 Try a different network (Wi-Fi vs mobile data)🌍 Change server location to a nearby country for better stability🔋 Disable battery optimization / background restrictions for TunnelBear🆕 Reinstall the app to clear any corrupted update dataIf it’s still behaving like this after trying these, it may point to a deeper issue—and we’d definitely want to dig into it further on our side 🐻We’re really sorry it led to you canceling—your experience matters a lot to us, and we truly appreciate the time you’ve spent with TunnelBear. If you ever decide to give us another try, we’d love the chance to make things right.Thank you again for your honesty—it helps us improve 🐾

  • Disappointing update.

    LUMlOUS

I’m normally not one to write reviews on apps (this is actually the first one on my apple account), but TunnelBear used to be great! Very heavy emphasis on USED TO. I just haven’t used it recently and the latest changes have left me (and others, based on the recent reviews) upset. I used to use TunnelBear as a good VPN to read and watch shows, specifically for the free feature of accessing VPNs that made it look like I was from other countries. It’s disappointing that one of the best features of the app is now locked behind a paywall. While I have tried to use “Fastest” as a VPN anyway, it can barely function and takes a while to load almost every website, despite being called “Fastest.” I also randomly disconnect from the VPN at times, which then means the website refreshes and any “progress” trying to load the website in the first place is reset. It is annoying to see the direction this VPN is going and I will probably be deleting this app and finding a better VPN soon. I suggest anyone considering this app and reading the reviews to look elsewhere if they want to use an actually functioning VPN.

🐻 Rawr! We're sorry to hear how disappointed you are. We understand how frustrating it can be when features you've relied on change and the connection doesn't perform as expected. We appreciate your detailed feedback regarding location selection, speed, and disconnections, and we'll be sure to share it with the team. Thank you for taking the time to let us know how you feel. 🐾
