TurboMosaic 2 Home Edition 4+

This program has a lot of problems that make it frustrating to use. For the price, it should have a user manual and help for problems that arise that are not intuitive to solve. Things that I have had problems with include:

1) when trying to save a project or export a mosaic, I get an error message that I don’t have permission to save. After hours of waiting for the mosaic to populate, this is frustrating to the extreme limit of my patience level.

2) tile photos don’t load. I built a library of 3000 images to import, and was able to obtain only about half of them. I started renaming files to make the names shorter, and sans symbols or spaces, and had a better load rate, but the import still did not take all of the images. There’s no explanation as to why this occurs, nor instructions regarding file name format for the tile pictures.

3) there seems to be a required sequence of adding the main picture vs the tile photos, but, again, with no explanation or instruction as to how to do this. I did watch the videos - they are so superficial as to be not helpful in trying to run this program.

4) setting the grid size in terms of rows and columns: you can’t just type in a number. You have to manually click the arrows. For a 200 X 200 grid, this is extremely annoying!

5) you can’t manipulate the settings after a mosaic has been generated. You have to start over with reloading images. That’s definitely annoying.

6) there should be instructions regarding file size limits for the tile pictures. This is another trial-and-error exploration that is annoying.

I had to make a mosaic for my in-laws’ 50th anniversary and this app did it in a snap.
There aren't any caveats or catches, it does what it advertises to do.
In my case, I imported over 700 photos for tiles. It took about 3 minutes to load all the tiles on my MacBook Air.
Then I added my main photo, which loaded immediately.
Next, I configured the mosaic to be max resolution (4,500x4,500 pixels is the max supported).
Lastly, I generated the picture, which took about 2 more minutes.
The end result doesn’t always look very good immediately, so you can tweak the color adjustments and blending to your liking until the mosaic looks just right.
Finally, I exported the end result into a large PNG file and took it to Kinko’s for printing. Looks awesome in 24”x24”.
It did it all without crashes or hiccups. Great job!

I watched the 3 minute video on how to use the application and I was good to go! Very easy to generate a Mosaic! My only wish is that it showed you which pics you used from your tile pictures. Well worth the price!
