Finally, an app that takes the guesswork out of rugging.
The Horseware Turnout Guide gathers data from weather forecasts for the next three days to make an intelligent recommendation on which Horseware turnouts will best suit the conditions and your horse, making sure you’re aware of any expected sudden weather changes.
You can create a profile for each of your horses, save turnouts you own to ‘My Rugs’, and, by uploading an image of your horse, you can virtually try on turnouts before buying, so you can be sure you’re choosing the best option.
Our Decoder tells you everything you need to know about Horseware turnouts, our How to Measure guide will help you find the perfect fit for your horse, and Where To Buy pinpoints your nearest Horseware stockist.

Good guideline but not perfect
It tends to recommend a much heavier blanket than necessary and I wish it could take into account if a horse was in a stall or outside where wind or precipitation would be a factor. For example, it recommended a medium weight on an unclipped, stalled horse in 45 degree weather. My poor horse would be sweating!
This app recommended for me to put on a heavy blanket on my easy keeper, unclipped Haflinger at 35°F. My pony is very wooly and, as a colder climate breed living in a southern state, would almost never need a heavy. We tried blanketing like this at the beginning of the season and she got sweaty. If she were a quarter horse or other breed with a naturally thinner coat, then it would make more sense. However, I can’t give them the benefit of the doubt when they have a place to put in your horse’s breed. Also I already own a Horseware blanket, but the one I have isn’t listed on the app and so I can’t mark it as a favorite. I’m in general really disappointed, I was looking for a replacement for the SmartBlanket app since it’s not kept up well anymore, but this one didn’t work out.
This app is only going to try and sell you blankets. I have one horse that is completely body clipped, and another that is a woolly mammoth. This app told me to put them both in a heavyweight blanket on a 40° day. Can’t trust this.
