Description

Typeeto is an app that enables you to use your Mac keyboard as a Bluetooth keyboard for other devices such as iPad, iPhone, Apple TV, Android device, etc. Now use a full-scale keyboard to type in a text and it will be displayed real-time on your device screen. You do not need to install any other apps on your device – just connect it to Mac and start typing.

With Typeeto you can:

• Write long messages on Mac and send them from mobile devices
• Copy-paste a text from Mac to connected devices
• Use a full-scale keyboard to manage your Apple TV or game consoles connected to TV (except PS3 & PS4)
• Manage music playback on your devices

Why Typeeto?

• Connect any number of devices to Mac
• Switch between devices in a single click or a hot key press
• Save your time & effort - you do not need to set up an extra keyboard separately

To start working with Typeeto follow this 3 simple steps:

• Turn on Bluetooth on Mac and a device you’d like to connect, make sure that both of them are discoverable
• Go to Bluetooth settings on Mac and pair the device
• Connect your device to Mac. Remember that for iOS and Android devices connection has to be initiated from them first.

That's it! Your device is connected - start typing away.

Additional features:

• Select between Dark & Light themes

• Make use of sound effects
• Designate a hotkey to each device
• The device’s type is detected automatically, but you can always change it in Preferences
• Native support for Apple’s new M1 chips.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us on support@electronic.us. We are happy to help you. Your feedback is welcome; we assure it will be taken into account in our next release.

Handy, But Beware

I realy liked the idea of being able to conjure a bluetooth keyboard out of my laptop to use on my phone or otherwise at a moment's notice, so I was certainly willing to give this app a shot. The app worked exactly as I expected it to, although the modifier keys like "Command" and "Control" don't work. There is one warning I must give you, however: For the last two years (during which I had this app) my AirPods never seemed to connect at all to my Mac. Using resources on the internet, I was able to rule everything out but a software issue on my Mac, which stumped every Apple Genius I talked to. In what I figured would be my last attempt to solve the issue, I systematically uninstalled apps I thought might be problematic, and discovered that Typeeto was indeed responsible. I disabled the app's "start on login" feature, and can still use it if I am not using my AirPods. If I want to use my AirPods, although it's not the most convenient thing, I simply restart my Mac and refrain from using the app. Would give the app 2.5 stars if I could, and some explanation from the developer would be welcome.

not identifying iPhone

i have been using Typeeto for close to 2 years now, pairing 2 iphones & 2 MacBooks so far in my experience. i have however noticed that it has never identified my iPhone as as iPhone but always as "unidentified" & i have never known how to correct it. Pairing was also flaky & i have had to reboot either Mac or iPhone for successful connection. Otherwise, it's working fine although its autocorrect sometimes can be irritating when it corrects the wrong word.

Developer Response ,

The issue with the iOS device's connection in the Typeeto has been already fixed. Please update the macOS up to the latest version macOS Catalina 10.15.4 (if it is possible) and everything will work as stated.

Used to partially work, but beware

I still love the idea of this app, even if it doesn't seem to work at all on current macOS. I think their support might be on the case though; I've at least reported the error, and hopefully they might make it at least nominally run again.

Older review: Like AlexSmarticles, I have experienced severe issues with AirPods, AirPods Pros, and AirPods Max not pairing well with my mac while running Typeeto, and in addition, the app stopped managing to connect with and be a keyboard for any of its known devices after I upgraded to macOS Big Sur.

While it worked on previous macOS versions, it was really neat to not have to pair keyboards directly with the iOS device, but learning of the downsides, I am definitely going back to that safer approach now. I never figured out the airpods associtation, myself (thanks, Alex!), and was just deeply frustrated by the situation, for many months.
