Current keyboards are based on the 140-year-old mechanical typewriter layout. Typewise is different. It’s the first keyboard that is specifically designed for smartphones. It’s revolutionary yet easy to use, and after a couple of messages you’ll love it.

A recent study with 37,000 participants showed that on current keyboards 1 out of 5 words contains typos. With Typewise you finally get rid of these ARRGGHH-moments. Thanks to the hexagon layout, keys are 70% larger and much easier to hit. This reduces typos by 80%.

Swipe up to capitalize a letter, swipe left to delete or swipe right to restore. It's as simple as that.

Stop getting annoyed by wrong autocorrections or senseless predictions. Typewise learns what you type and helps you write that perfect sentence.

What you write is personal. That's why Typewise runs locally on your device and none of your data is transmitted to the cloud.

Other keyboards require dozens of permissions to access your calendar, contacts, files, GPS location and much more. Typewise does NOT require “full access”.

Having to switch between different languages is cumbersome. With Typewise you can write in all your languages at once. Choose from 40+ languages and type in the accents you really need. Typewise supports:
- English (United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada)
- Afrikaans
- Albanian
- Basque
- Breton
- Catalan
- Croatian
- Czech
- Danish
- Dutch (Belgium, Netherlands)
- Estonian
- Filipino
- Finnish
- French (France, Canada, Switzerland)
- Galician
- German (Austria, Germany, Switzerland)
- Hungarian
- Icelandic
- Indonesian
- Irish
- Italian
- Latvian
- Lithuanian
- Malaysian
- Norwegian
- Polish
- Portuguese (Portugal, Brazil)
- Romanian
- Serbian
- Slovak
- Slovene
- Spanish

- Turkish

Typewise is optimized for iPhones with iOS 12 or later.

Trying to figure tuis out

I love the larger key layout on this, but im havng trouble with the auto-correct function in that it seems to be not behaving as I would expect it to. For example, if i want to say that im ready to do something, the i's don't get capitalized and i don't always get the apostrophies to insert where they should, so i am having to go back to manually correct the multiple mistakes i make by not swiping up or holding the long press as I need to do. I have the auto-correct turned on in the settings, but it doesn't seem to do what I expect it to do. Im on an iphone 7, did I miss something or what? BTW, I love the privacy that is promised, but Im used to seeing the auto-correct options above the keyboard and being able to tap the correction from there. So, what am i missing?

Hi Lexpost, thanks a lot for your feedback. I think you should try our new V2.0 which is in Beta right now. We added a bar on top with word predictions and a way that makes corrections transparent and easy to change in case it was a wrong correction. It has a lot of new features and looks awesome. Send us a message if you'd like to participate in the Beta: - Cheers, your WRIO team

Interesting Concept, Lacking In Certain Areas

I like the basic concept. The drastic change in the keyboard layout is refreshing. It does, however, have some flaws that bug me.

The top row doesn't seem sensitive enough. I'll occasionally go to type a t or an i and it won't register.

Text substitution not allowing for special characters is a huge letdown. I use Apple's built in text substitution both to type the interrobang (‽) and to type various ascii emoji. The lack of versatility in the text substitution feature on this keyboard heavily stymies that.

On top of lack of versatility in text substitution, the absence of a shift key of some kind and forced reliance on the swipe up to capitalize gesture makes typing in ALL CAPS really annoying.

Finally, the autocorrect seems way off. It misses obvious mistakes like woth (should be with), it won't autocorrect contractions like don't or shouldn't at all, and it wrongly corrects words like app to alp!

Developer Response ,

Hi Draconiou, thanks for your feedback. Happy to answer your points:
- Text substitution: we'll check how to allow special characters
- Top row sensitivity: we're unable to reproduce this, if this happens again and you're able to record your screen please send it to
- Capitalization: this feature has been requested, feel free to vote for it here:
- Auto correction: if you type "shouldnt" it does correct it to "shouldn't", not with you? if there is a wrong correction, simply tap on the "edit pencil" that appears in the smartbar, and it will learn from that very quickly

Hope this helps! Your Typewise team

I've been using WRIO for about three weeks. The first major re-think of a mobile keyboard I think actually works. Very high learning curve as you might imagine (at least for this old man trying to learn new tricks), but my accuracy is way up, I think my speed will be, and I find it hard to go back to the standard keyboard in the few apps it won't work with. The use of swipe for capitalixation, delete and restore, and to reassign keys to special charactors mean all of these tasks can be done with fewer key strokes and one-handed. Woth the effort to learn the modified layout, and highly recommended.

Hi Donald, thanks a lot for your feedback. Have you already tried our new V2.0? It has a lot of new features (including word predictions which might help you further adapting to the new layout) and looks awesome. Send us a message if you'd like to participate in the Beta: - Cheers, your WRIO team
