Ratings and Reviews
USNI is doing a great job keeping up with the times. App is now content-focused on the magazine vs previous cluttered attempt to duplicate the website. Much cleaner and now one of my favorite apps!
Only four stars though, the fifth star will come when I can use it horizontally with my iPad ;)

Horrible UI that is inconsistent with other similar apps. Scrolling right to left is a default, unchangeable behavior. Scrolling of articles is slow and jerky, a first for me in any iOS app. Font choice is strange and varies. Icons and logos are not designed with Retina displays in mind and thus look fuzzy. Multiple "loading" progress bars. Sharing options are good, but if the app is set up for offline reading, why even have an option to save to pocket?
Fire the developer, USNI. Go with someone who will give you a visually appealing and easy to use app.
Poor reader app
I have shifted to reading other magazines and newspapers on Apple's newsstands and stand alone apps. They are seamless and reliable. All easily let me review old issues. Those are my top three priorities and this app fails in all three areas. There is some glitch in the database so after I log on, the app shows me logged on with an email address I haven't used for three years. I deleted and reloaded this app with no improvement in features.
