What Are UDI'S? As of September 24, 2016 all class II medical devices sold in the USA must bear a Unique Device Identifier or UDI. A UDI is an alphanumeric code in unique human readable or machine readable code.

What codes can you read? UDI Check is compatible with multiple code formats and UDI’s from all three accredited issuing agencies:

Barcode scanning doesn’t work

Tried scanning a HIBC UDI data matrix barcode to verify accuracy and every time I scanned a barcode the app would close out. Not sure if this happens for all barcodes or just the ones I’m testing, however if this app is geared towards UDI scanning then it should be able to accommodate all barcodes that are allowed under the standard. Or, it may just be a developer bug in the app. Hopefully it gets worked out but for now I have to rate this app low. If it gets fixed, this app would be great. Currently there are limited reliable UDI scanning apps, so this has the chance of leading the UDI apps... if the bugs get worked out. Cheers!

Developer Response ,

Hi Compliance1. The App can read bar codes and data matrix codes (27 types in total) from all three issuers of FDA UDI codes. If the code itself is not properly formatted the App will tell you it does not conform. If properly formatted that App is linked to the FDA and checks the DI for a current listing. If there is a currently listing the app allows you to record it and you can use www.udicheck.com to manage your devices and inventory. The app is used by 197 firms to track their products - so if you would like to send details of the problem to us we can take a look at your code. Thanks. UDIcheck Support Team
