Description

Unite is a simple and easy-to-use GroupMe app for the Mac. It allows you to send and receive GroupMe messages, all in a native macOS app. You can even share files, images, locations, GIFs, and emoji with your family and friends, right from your Mac!

Local notifications alert you as new messages arrive, so you'll never miss a message. What's more, badges on the app icon show how many unread messages you have. Unite allows you to save and zoom in on any images you receive. You can also view locations your friends send you on interactive maps. If groups get too distracting, Unite allows you to pin important groups and mute chatty ones.

Unite also features powerful group management tools, allowing you to create, join, rename, share, leave, and delete groups. You can even add or remove group members, as well as view past groups you've been in, right on your Mac.

GroupMe / Unite

I like using the GroupMe app on my phone. However, I had to purchase a separate but same app called unite for my Macbook Air. Didn't want to purchase it, but needed to for church comms. Overall, I'm glad I purchased it for my laptop as I can now message and read messages while working and not have to grab my phone. One caveat that I'd like to see them fix is if I read the messages on the Unite app, then it should reflect in the groupme phone app as well and vice versa. Otherwise, a reliable form of communication.

Great Way to Use GroupMe on a Desktop

Using Unite stops me from having to switch devices all of the time. My only issue with it is that I don't think it has an easy way to search for prevous files that have been shared in your groups. If that's not a big deal to you, then this is a great solution.

Great App but limitations

It's a great App and I Love being able to type on a computer for texting. I hate using a phone, so this is perfect in that regard. However, the lack of features in this app compared to GroupMe i.e. polls, pinned messages, etc doesn't make it a seamless experinece. Also, messages tend to not update, the window always resizes to a small size, and I have to open and reopen it a lot. Otherwise, it's useful for what it's good for.
