Problems with the app.
I also have had problems with the app. I see a product in the order book is covered. But when I scan the barcode. The app says the product isn’t covered. I also tried to use my credits to pay utility bills. But was told the companies I use were not in the formularies. Ameran is the major utility anywhere in the United States. And when I do buy only what is in the catalog. Many times all the items were not covered. But it didn’t let me know which ones. So I had to pay out of pocket. I didn’t try to figure out the which items. Because I would have to run each one separately. I don’t understand why Walmart brands are accepted but other store brands are not. It’s like Walmart has cornered the market with UH Care. ???? I will say I’m very thankful for the extra help. When I first became disabled, the insurance plan was straight Medicare and or Medicaid. And we didn’t have all the extras. I think the younger generation don’t always think about how well they are provided for. But I also believe that if a company presents themselves as having certain options. They should deliver those options. And whatever is not functioning well should be fixed.
Get Mixed Signals
I’ve used both the website and the app and I’ve had issues with both. I get my OTC credit each month and I’m supposed to be able to use it to pay on certain utilities like water, electric. I’ve tried a handful of times to fill out the info needed (on the UHC website)for my monthly benefit to pay on my water bill, which keeps going up inexplicably, but it has never worked right. I even had assistance from a representative and I got a bounce back email informing me my water bill couldn’t be processed. Later I found out it’s because UHC has my water company under the wrong name, same thing happened with my electric company so I gave up on that after I spoke to 2 different reps telling them they have the name of my utility companies wrong but nothing changed in the system. The app will tell me a product is approved to use on my OTC benefits only to get to the checkout and I end up having an out of pocket balance and it doesn’t tell me WHICH product wasn’t covered even though I scan every single one and they’re green. Very frustrating and a little embarrassing.
BE AWARE this app has flaws
Hello! We have United Healthcare and they really promote this app. Before you download this app, and start paying your bills through the app, you need to know that there is a lag time of 60 days preventing bill payment through the app from having a meaningful impact on your deductible. We started off diligently paying our doctors bills immediately through the app, which felt very convenient and responsible. Then we would be billed, or get calls from collectors, for the bill that we had already paid on the app. in the confusion we paid twice several times! We have not been reimbursed for the amounts that we paid twice, even though in some cases, we realized it immediately and asked to be reimbursed. You need to know not to pay your bills through the app. If you talk to a United healthcare agent on the phone, they will actually advise you not to pay through the app. Paying your bills through the app will not help you. You will be billed twice. You need to wait for the insurance company to process your bills and tell you what you owe. If you call United Healthcare a recording mentions downloading the app repeatedly, urging you to use it. Please be aware that their app is very flawed when it comes to the timing of bills. Essentially, people who are diligent to pay bills quickly through the app are penalized. You will pay the price. App needs major bug fixing!
