Universe of Emotions 4+

Was excited about this app because I thought it had a biofeedback component. After watching his Ted talks on the how much info there is in HRV I thought they'd mapped out different variations in heart rate that showed different emotional states. Thought that this was a tool to tell you where you are so you can bypass the subjective sense of how you think you are and really find out. It's not that at all, it's entirely based on your subjective sense of what emotion you think you're experiencing. Disappointed

This is app is great. Five minutes in and I’m beginning to find words and phrases to describe my emotions with words I didn’t know existed. Meanwhile, reading all the angry reviews proves the point that people aren’t willing to pursue ownership. App doesn’t download fast enough? Blame the app rather than get a new phone. Words too small to read? Blame the app rather than getting new glasses. Want a $1.99 refund because you’re dissatisfied and broke? Blame the app rather than not spending money you don’t have. Wanna know why I’m depressed? Because I live in a society where we can have anything we want on our doorstep by merely touching our phone in all the right places, yet I’m constantly surrounded by miserable, ungrateful people….all the time. I’m often (and unwillingly) the smartest (or most insightful) person in the room and before I realize it, I’m blacklisted because others feel threatened by me. I don’t have inkling of confidence to stand up for myself, yet I’m constantly bulldozed by incompetency only because I freeze up and don’t know the right things to say until the moment is gone. That’s why I often feel like hurting myself (don’t worry, I’m fine). That’s where my pain is. I don’t expect a phone app to solve my problems, but it’s at least informative. Thanks.

This app is brilliant in concept, and with a little work to smooth out the glitches and maybe some minor added features, this app could be much more convenient to use.

That being said, I see it as having great potential in exactly what it is intended to do. I’ve seen great healing in learning to experience emotions, and learn to navigate the world of emotion after having grown up in a culture that suppressed and ridiculed emotion in men.

The search function barely works. You have to click it many times and even then it may not open. Fixing that alone would be a great improvement.

Also, navigation in the app is difficult. Zooming in or out is not smooth at all and it’s very easy to lose your place in the “universe.”

Still, I couldn’t give it less than 4 stars. I hope to see this app improve. If it does, I can see recommending it regularly as a way to learn to navigate emotions in a healthy way.

I am still using it, at least until the glitches become too tedious.

Please keep working on this. The concept is beautiful.
