What’s New

Version 3.59.0

Who invented words? And terms? How do we come to terms? How do we arrive at them? I was sitting in a sun-soaked room one morning, eating breakfast, when my friend said “isn’t it crazy that breakfast was invented?” Freud’s nephew invented the modern breakfast as part of a PR campaign to get folks to consume more bacon. How do we come to terms? How do we arrive at them? I’ve always loved the names of groups in the animal world. We know the basic ones like ‘school of fish’ and ‘flock of sheep’ - but ‘gaggle of geese’? Flamboyance of flamingos! Murder of crows. Epic. What would we call a group of blocks on the Grid? A batch of blocks? A pack, a cluster, a flock? How do we come to terms? How do we arrive at them? Julia Berners gifted us those delicious collective nouns for animals back in 1486. And with this release, we’re inventing a new term for blocks that are grouped, connected, and magnetically moved around the Grid together, herdlike. We’re calling it Group Block, and it’s going to massively transform the way sites are built on Universe.

Group Block introduces a whole new dimension of composability to the Grid. Previously, there wasn’t a way to group content blocks together and move or resize them as a single unit. With Group Block, you can cluster blocks together and copy, paste, drag, and drop those groups freely across your pages. Duplicate complex and layered compositions across your site. Build menus or site headers and copy/paste them for site consistency and navigational ease. Create product capsules that showcase your designs with prices and descriptions batched together and copy/paste/edit to quickly- and uniformly- build out a collection. Pair a video with some text and layer, lock, drag, and drop. Simple as that. You can even nest Group Blocks inside of each other for precise alignment and scale. Build fractal landscapes and highly polished websites. Dive deeper into the Grid than ever. This is how we invent things. Together. We can’t wait to see where you take us.

v3.59.0 What’s New:
Create Group Blocks— composable blocks that allow for complex groupings of blocks that can be moved, copied, pasted, and resized as a single unit. Group Block lets you:
- Create a Group
- Resize a Group (cropping)
- Copy and Paste a Group
- Nest Group Blocks within Group Blocks

With Universe, you can get a website up and running in five minutes. We know. We’ve timed it. To get started, just give your website a name, claim a domain (Universe will suggest alternates if yours is taken), and choose the type of site you’re building. Are you a musician? Starting a new restaurant? Creating an online presence for a church? Universe has presets for all of these and more.

Excellent mobile website builder

This is my preferred website builder, since I primarily use my phone/tablet to work on my website. The alternative website builders are very clunky especially when creating on a mobile platform. Universe is extremely intuitive. Also, the block grid format allows limitless creativity through clickable images, gifs, videos, download buttons, etc. Universe allows you to make unique and eye catching websites. Competitors only allow you to create websites that are restricted greatly by templates. It is super awesome to make quick edits to my website on the go. Currently, I do think Universe websites are best viewed on mobile devices. Websites built by alternative brands are better for websites viewed from traditional laptops/desktops. However, I don’t find this to be a problem. The future is mobile browsing, and I prefer Universe’s websites as they provide superior mobile interfaces. Universe is continuing improving and adding additional features. I would love to see more detailed website analytics. For selling on Universe websites, I would like to see variable shipping costs automatically added based on a customer’s shipping address. I love the Apple Pay and Google Pay integration that offer single click purchasing on online stores. Way to go Universe!

Love it!

I just love this.. first of all, for myself anyway I found it very simple to use and create... I already have a website, but I loveeee clickable linked pix and graphics! So I basically just created what I consider to be a Virtual Business Card, each image is a link to my everything! A) my regular domain, my Phone, Email.. Photo Links to my socials, FB, IG, Twitter (2 Of each! 🤦🏻‍♀️, so it should make sense why this is so awesome for me.. links to my Snapchat too! I’m really impressed with it.. I do Social media marketing and some of the clients can’t afford a new website and maintain it and all of that.. so I’ve recommended this to quite a few.. a friend of mine is a realtor and I had her do this.. she’s not the savviest with this kind of thing but she still made one, I made a list of things for her to change but even what she put together is good enough and is everything if she wants to be successful.. I also really like that it’s more than just a stand-alone site.. it’s also a community.. which is additional exposure.. and starting off.. you can use all you can get! 5 Stars For Sure.. Totally Recommend This!
