If either FirstName or LastName is a null string, the remaining strings will be used. And the company is used to sort contacts, if the contact is set as company.

Works as advertised
This app does exactly what I wanted it to, which is to allow me to manually edit vCards independently of my Contacts database. The UI took a minute for me to figure out, but it works exactly as I'd expect it to.
Does the trick!
My use case: accessing contacts that I’ve archived post-retirement. Functionality meets my needs and the developer is very responsive. I exported about 5600 contacts from the Contacts MacOS app. Importing to vCard Editor was slow. I noted the situation to the developer, who let me know to be patient - and that worked out. As a result of our conversation, the developer identified several performance and UIX improvements, and immediately made them and released the updated version to the App Store.
The only reason I’m not giving 5 stars is that I don’t use the full functionality of the app, and therefore can’t comment on some of its features. However, I will re-iterate that I’m very happy with everything that I’ve used it for.
Actually works quite well
Have been using vCard Editor for over three months – first under Mavericks, and now under Yosemite – and it has worked well. While the user interface is not the easiest to grasp, but it has worked flawlessly for me in editing over 300 entries in a shared Contacts database.
The advantage of vCard Editor is obvious in that you can batch edit, or copy and paste data beween large numbers of cards easily – which makes my job as a system administrator much easier. I can highly recommend vCard Editor to anyone tasked with maintaining a clean, and precise Contacts directory.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
