A great app! but I’m afraid of talking to people... :(

This am is really great because you can put the emotions you feel and write about(and you can write A LOT) I’ve met really nice people and texted a couple but I got scared because they were 20+ year olds and I’m 15 so I got scared and I don’t talk to them that much but when I get older and they still have this app then I’m going to talk to them:) I love giving advice and it really easy to do so! When someone post a vent you can come to on their vent. (unless they disable comment obviously) it’s super super easy to help others with many things and interact with others. I’ve only had this app for a few months and nothing suspicious happened, what I mean is, you can text on this app and this is used for 17+ and I’m young but I really needed an app to write my thoughts. I haven’t stumbled upon anyone weird except for this one 23 year old man. We haven’t talked in a few weeks and I hope he doesn’t text me because I’m scared of him lol. He gives me a weird vibe and I have him added on snap but my location is off so I think I’m fine... anyways, I like this app but I’m scared of it:)

Useless turned Everything

I had lots of complications just getting my account set up on this app and initially deleted it on my iPad, but it remained unused on my iPhone. I stared at the little icon after a pivotal moment in my life where I had to stay strong, but all I wanted to do was scream as loud as I could on the highest mountain top... Or I guess a pillow would suffice. Either way, I tried to log in after an iOS update one last time and suddenly I was in.

Right now this is one of the most exciting new apps I’ve seen since GetGlue or TVTime. No, ‘Vent’ doesn’t center around media... But there’s a closeness in the community that echoes the strength of the original GetGlue, but with the supportive feel of TVTime. ‘Vent’ allows me to connect with people going through similar issues, and even narrows that lot down with similar interests. Groups are great, the users are there to build you up, and if you have something tough going on in your life; if you’re battling personal demons; or you just need an outlet to react off that pesky first emotion that hits you in the gut... This is the best kept secret in the App Store. Shhhhhh, lets keep it that way by putting our all into making the vision the developers came up with a reality... TOGETHER.

The immaturity of the staff is unbelievable.

I have been using Vent on and off since 2015, so I believe I’m more than qualified to speak on this issue. For as long as I’ve been on the app, users have taken issue with the way that the staff runs things. Run by a seemingly tiny and ill-equipped group of people, Vent staff has a more hands-on and personal vibe than most other apps. This also means that accountability is more easily placed on individuals, and users have long feuded with mods and programmers over such things as constant error messages, slow loading times, certain rules (such as the ban on callout/namedropping posts), and the unfair removal of users. Very recently, though, it has all come to a head. Staff have taken to labeling criticism of their app as “hate speech” and suspending/banning users for daring to speak about them in an unfavorable light. Known abusers, pedophiles, and transphobes receive nothing more than a slap on the wrist, while those trying to warn others about these abusive users are persecuted for it. My feed is nothing but dunks on Vent staff. Things have always been tense between the staff and their users, but never more than right now. If it’s not clear, I’m siding with other users here. Vent’s handling of issues is extremely unprofessional, and we are starting to get tired of it. There’s been serious discussion of migrating to another app. If this review actually gets published, I’ll be surprised.

Developer Response ,

Hi there, thanks for your feedback. Regarding the current bugs that the app is experiencing we are currently working on consolidating our iOS and Android codebases so that they will be under one programming language instead of two. This will ensure that both Android and iOS have consistent experiences and that the current bugs are fixed in the near future. Please also note that we only remove content if it is in breach of our guidelines, and we do not tolerate abuse or pedophilia and will take strict action as soon as this type of content is brought to our attention.
