Versatrans My Stop 4+

As a parent this was my first day using the app. Login is confusing you need to call the transportation bus company to give you information and a student # to login, then you can change it using app settings. Then for using the app it has a map, scan, and settings seems simple enough yet the map does NOT show the location of the bus enroute it only pins your home location drop off point, then gives an estimated arrival time WHICH IS NOT ACCURATE! This is disappointing considering a parent trying to get to the home location after getting off work and the bus arrives earlier ( for our location it’s off by 6 minutes) than expected! The developers of this app need to make changes to their programming so that it at least gives an accurate time of drop off point. I didn’t get a chance to read the other reviews but I did see one for 2 yrs ago, it’s 2022 and with only a few stars on your review and a product that you’ve sold and still promote, I especially expect more considering this app is in place for children to have a peace of mind coming off a bus to meet their parents or family members and it takes the edge off of us parents having technology that is quality. The gps tracking lags a lot but seems reasonably accurate. That said if your planning on when to walk out the door or see the app show the bus coming round the corner in sync with real life you will be disappointed.

For me the app fails when bus drivers are short and our bus is running multiple routes. The bus can look like it’s coming to our neighborhood but instead skips it and drives to the school. (It has to drop off the other routes kids before it can come back and run our route). The app says the bus has passed our stop. That’s not technically wrong, but it’s also what it says when it does run our route and has already hit our bus stop. At the same time the app will tell you the bus is running on time and has our route highlighted. Completely misleads you to think the bus has already come.

Situations like this are maybe not obvious during development of an app, but completely solvable if you understand the issue. The fact that this is a mature app and this isn’t solved is my low rating.

I will be waiting for my child at the bus stop and it was change multiple times from bus is running on time 4:30 (when the current time is 4:45), to the bus is late, to the bus has past your stop. Then the bus will show up.

I have tried tracking the bus and it will show the bus at a stop for a long time when I can see if driving through the neighborhood. Then it freezes the bus in one spot very far away and it looks like the bus is no where near. Then the bus magically pops up at the stop but of course the app still has it frozen 5 miles away.

I’ve actually never written a review in the 10 years I’ve had an iphone but this was by far the worst app I’ve ever downloaded so I felt compelled to write a review. I was so excited to have the ability to see where my child was and when he was arriving. I guess I’ll just have to cross my fingers another company will come along and actually try to make a working app for this. Until then, there is no point in keeping an app on my phone that doesn’t have even one working feature.
