Not sure yet
I'm not sure yet about this app since I just downloaded it. The first thing I noticed that was a real hassle was that it does not support multi-tasking. If I started a search, left the app and came back, it did not rturn to exactly where I left off. That is a big negative.
The second thing that I wasn't too happy about is that I tried to look up 36 different wines and it was only able to find 11 of them. That's a bit disappointing. I was not looking for anything too obscure. These were wines you could purchase at the local wine store, grocery store, or find at a mid-range restaurant in my area. I also searched for several from wineries in the California wine regions and it could not find any of them. I'm not sure if this is because the app is a bit snobbish and doesn't have the wines that the average person would encounter or the database is just severely lacking.
I was disppointed when looking at the Vintages section of the app and to find that Temecula or South Coast was not recognized as a wine region. It's a shame that area is not getting any recognition. Other wine apps include this area so I'm not sure why this app has left it out.
I'm disappointed that the search feature only seraches by wine name. I would love to be able to search by varietal, region, rating, etc.
I'll have to further assess that app but so far I am really questioing if I want to pay a monthly subscription for an app that so far doesn't seem to be very useful.
Poor Customer Service
Be wary if you subscribe to the expert wine reviews. When you no longer want the service there is no way to deactivate online. You are instructed to call customer service at Wine Spectator. However, Wine Spectator customer service will tell you they can’t find any record of your purchase and instruct you to call Apple. Absolutely horrible customer service. Not worth the hassle.
Love having thousands of ratings at my finger tips to help me figure out which wine is actually worth my money.
