Description
Explore the great outdoors by visiting America’s backyard -- 193 million acres of national forests and grasslands. Find your perfect spot on these expansive lands that include more than 4,300 campgrounds and 158,000 miles of trails, including 31,900 miles on pristine wilderness areas.
Discover our rich cultural heritage at such destinations as Chimney Rock National Monument. Step back into time by stepping on tracks left 150 million years ago by dinosaurs at the Picket Wire Trail in southeast Colorado, where you also can see Native American rock art, ruins from the Dolores Mission and Cemetery and the old Rourke cattle ranch.
These lands also play host to more than 6,000 miles of wild and scenic rivers that offer leisurely rides passed awe-inspiring scenery or breathtaking rollercoaster-like rides down rapids. We are your year-round destination, including skiing on one of the 122 ski areas in the winter, photographing the bursting colors of wildflowers, cooking s’mores around the campfire in the summer or watching leaves change colors in the fall.

Ratings and Reviews
Lots of potential
This app has a ton of potential! I am able to use maps of Forest Service roads and trails while online and even create PDFs. The problem is if you want to use it offline.
Every time I try to download a Forest for online use, I can only see the boundaries with little detail of use. If you could download all of the road and trails for offline use, the app would be 5 stars easily.
A great application for Overlanding
Overall this Application is getting better and better with each new update. I’ve been using it for several years now in the mountains of Virginia and West Virginia with great success. I very much appreciate the forest service offering the free application and also keeping information such as weather warnings and fire up-to-date. We also camp quite a bit on the western states including California, Oregon and Washington and it is always hopeful to see where the fires are.
As far as off-line capability goes its latest update is quite useful in addition to being able to save maps for completely off-line use. This is one of the better free apps out there and I would highly recommend to all my overlanding, off grid or 4x4 friends.
Issue with offline maps
This app has been a game changer. I downloaded all the maps I thought I needed, I recently went in to download a new one and it’s giving an error saying offline maps not available, and I can’t update my current offline maps. I wish this could be fixed.
